Lol wut as your exploits as coal miner. Also, why are you still in the same place 15 years later? Weren't you there so you'd be across the hallway from your parents or something? How old are you now, mid 30s? But yeah, some of that stuff made me laugh. Not just throwing the knives at wall, but that stupid glass of piss you managed to knock over, getting stuff on your keyboard. What was wrong with you back in the day?

If we're talking old accounts, I've always wondered what the very earliest accounts were. A lot of people who've used GameFAQs for a long time would know that Shinnokxz is about user 13, and has one of the earlier accounts, but I don't remember (if I ever knew) who people like 11, 12, 14 and 15 were.

I think the first few User IDs were test accounts by CJayC

Just. Wtf.

I thought Lars von Trier was depressing and fucked up, but this is something else. Miserable characters with bad relationships, problems with people around them, and mental illnesses. Hardly any music. Even the black and white is depressing. I'm not saying these films were bad...but they were like anti-films or something. Stuff like The Hour of the Wolf, TAMD, and Shame. I can't imagine more than a small number of people on CE have actually watch any Bergman films, but if you have, what do you think of him? Oh, and his obsession with Liv Ullman was pretty annoying. I mean, she was in a bunch of films as the female lead, usually playing the same role...some downtrodden woman who has to put up with a man with a stronger personality who causes her problems. This is Valerie Solonas' worst nightmare.

This.

It was superb then, and (IMO) it's superb now. It's not even the graphics that haven't aged well, it's more the sloppy controls, which were thankfully much better in Sunshine.

how can it t be superb now with such sloppy controls? you guys have all been blinded by nostalgia. Not that i would know since i've never played it. but galaxy 2 and odyssey have for sure improved on all of its mechanics

How do you even know the controls are sloppy if you've never played it? What the shit

It's not nostalgia. I played though it again a few times back in about 2013. It's not like it's been so long that the memories have been messed up, or anything.

Yeah, I forget to say, I spent a lot of time finding and activating towers. It's fun gradually moving towards one of them, and then there are usually fun, varied challenges around the base, and as you're climbing up. I really enjoyed the desert one, with the tar pit around it, and dragging the metal blocks into positions so I could get to the tower.

I'd say it's probably on the same level as Galaxy 1 and Sunshine, but not nearly as good as 64, but better than stuff like 3D World. The world design is often great, but some worlds were mediocre. Graphically, it really does like pretty much like a 9th gen game. I like the music quite a lot, but not like some of the other games. Basically, I've beaten the main game, and done some extra stuff (I'm at something like 250 Power Moons), but the bad thing is how long it is. Usually I love very long games, but this seems ridiculous. I think Mario probably works best when it takes 20 - 40 hours to 100% the game, but judging from the fact there are apparently almost 900 Power Moons, this is extremely long. Why did they put so many in? It actually feels like too much. Also, where the hell are they? Taking into account how many I already have, combined with the crosses that appear on the maps, there are maybe 400 of them. What am I missing? This could end up being like looking for the blue coins in Sunshine, i.e. pretty good fun, but often frustrating and dull.

Overall, though, it seems like a great game. I have maybe 20 hours on it.

I'm not the biggest Zelda fan (although I do quite like the series, and usually buy the main series games), but this is basically a great installment in the franchise. There's so much to do, and it's a lot of fun. Completing shrines, exploring, cutting down trees, burning things, talking to people, fighting enemies and getting items sometimes, doing things in the main Quest. Although I'm not as into Zelda or sandbox games as much as some people, I can sorta see why people are saying GotY, or best game ever, or whatever.

Despite the fact I've been playing for about 30 hours, I've only done about a fifth of the main Quest, i.e. I've found and beaten the elephant dungeon. I've been doing plenty, though, of course, perhaps mostly exploring and doing shrines. I don't know if I want to beat it (and if I do, it'll be the first Zelda I've bothered to beat), but just going around the map and doing stuff is very good fun.

What do other people on CE think about this game? Have you beaten it, or 100%ed it? How many hours do you think you have on it?

I'm close now, though.

I have 680 out of the 700 teensies, so I'm very pleased about that. I also have a lot of the gold trophies for collecting the yellow things. This is a really good game, but it's definitely long and very hard. Some of the invaded levels, i.e. the time attack levels, have given me real trouble, especially for the third teensy. Has anyone else on CE gotten all 700 teensies and all the luma trophies? I must admit, the whole thing for getting 1,000,000 lumas seems pretty stupid (although grinding has become pretty common in platformers the last 10 years), and I don't know if I want to do it. If I can 100% the main game, I'll be very happy.

Sunhawk
11/10/17 2:03:31 PM

I've been trying to decide on locations for my book set in America for a long time. It's actually very difficult. Not just where its set, but how many locations there are, 1, or a few. I think I might've decided now.

San Francisco, California - represents the West Coast

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Bloomington, Indiana - represent the mid-West

Worcester, Massachucetts - represents the East Coast

I think this is a good set of locations, and spread over quite a wide area, which can work quite well. The only geographic region missing is the South (lol). What do you think of this? I think of the mid-West as the "American heartland", with a nice mix of cities and farms; the East Coast is the really old area, with old buildings, and lots of people who came from early immigrants; and the West Coast means glamour, hot weather, and excitement.

I can't believe how repetitive it is. Expecting you to get the stars, the gold flags, and the hidden stamps in the levels. It also expects you to play through each level as each of the 5 characters. I thought SMG 1 and 2 were a bit cheap, expecting you to play through each of them twice, but this is ridiculous. I've had this game for over a year and a half, and I still haven't bothered to 100% it. I 100%ed Super Mario 64 after a month or two. I'm not saying it's not a very good game, but this is stupid...I don't why they designwed it like this.

- That thing where a girl photographs the back of your car and sends it to a friend, in case you wanted to kill her or something

- Tinder "dates", where you hook up with a couple of people a week

- Sex on a first date

I'd say these have pretty much just been the case in the last 5 years. I know CE will try and make out it's been going on for 15 years. Dating sure has changed though, and mostly for the worst, IMHO.

Let me put it like this. Most of the content of her albums tends to be 7/10 - 9/10, so many excellent songs on most of her albums, and overall her albums are usually 8/10s. But this. I dunno. so many very average songs. I've rated them below, from what I remember of them, but it's a pretty weak album. When I think about Two, which is an amazing album, pretty much the only one I'd give 10/10 to ever, and think about this, it's a huge difference.

Every Bird That Sings - 5/10
Arrow - 5/10
Heal - 7/10
Lucky 5/10
Homo Sapian 5/10
Flesh and Bone 5/10
Slow Lane 5/10
Animal (River Spirits) - 5/10
Bittersweet 5/10
Crystal Ball 5/10
Boom (Reprise) - 5/10
Disappear 7/10

Overall: 6/10, just about.
