LOL so i had been feeling better about tanking than healing, but to finish up the day i just went into cutter's cry as DRK and had a nightmare run that ended with a bard tanking the final boss and i don't know if i'm a terrible tank or just got the worst party.

Got it in 4.

Lumineon, Tyranitar, Noctowl, Girafarig

I think Lumineon is one of the best first guesses. Water is a common type, and not being dual type tells you immediately whether it's a dual type Pokmon or not. Not sure about height/weight but it's not a particularly tiny Pokemon either. It's also from a middle generation.
After we had the discussion, I calculated and mathematically the best opening guess is Zangoose

yeah, I increased the size of my party list a little and moved it inwards some, and now I know to look out for the line it's already becoming a little more intuitive. though the first fight I did as Astrologian where I had debuffs to look out for I completely forgot to play any cards, but one thing at a time I suppose

now doing a couple of WHM runs, my first real runs as healer, through sunken temple of qarn and then cutter's cry. sunken temple went fine until the tank died to doom, at which point my brain faculties crumbled and while i managed to res the tank (after starting to cast raise, remembering i had swiftcast and then cancelling and THEN casting the raise) i then died myself to Doom. and then Cutter's Cry went great outside of a dps dying to sludge from the worm because i didn't know to remove it - which is where I come here, is there any way to have the party debuffs be a bit more... noticeable?

Nerdle 15 3/6

so i just checked out nerdle for the first time and all i have to say is, nerdle disrespects numbers and everything about them their meanings, their etymology, even the way they feel when you say them and sound when you hear them. Its a game for solipsists who, if youll forgive the phrase, enjoy playing with themselves. Or rather playing against themselves. Nerdle requires neither a love for numbers nor the need for other people. And since I love and need both these things, its not the game for me. Numbers possess great power and a transcendent allure. They only exist, however, to convey an impression or articulate a point of view. Theyre too important, too beautiful to have their magic and relevance removed so they can be reduced to meaningless pawns in a pointless puzzle.

yes, all the raid series after ARR appear in the Raid Roulette and therefore are full of players

Typically 2 groups is the standard for big pulling. In fact most dungeons won't let you pull more than that. ARR has some weird dungeon layouts but it's still not really advised to do more.

choosing my party target is A-OK because you can always cycle through those on the D-pad up/down, it's then jumping back to the right target to dps that i get in a tizzy with sometimes

also my other point of tank anxiety is i don't know how big people want me to pull so open to any general points on that

yeah i've found that with the tank classes, I'm pretty ready to go with tanking - my biggest gap with tanking is a lot of the ARR dungeons aren't straightforward runs, I don't know them well (I leveled through ARR 3 years ago then dropped off) and I feel it's my responsibility to lead the way as much as possible. it's healing that i definitely need the more practice on before unleashing on other players - I especially find the target switching stressful at times playing on controller

So far I've only ran the 20-32 dungeons in command missions so I'm not sure if they get worse later, but so far the only problematic part has been getting the tank to run out of the fire on the last boss of halatali. definitely inferior to trusts though even if they do actually use AOE- the flawless mechanic dancing of the trust AI was a much easier way to learn the dungeons than watching guide videos

i have huge anxiety about playing any role other than DPS and so I've been using command missions at low levels to learn some basics but a lot of command missions comes down to actually instructing your NPCs to act, as well as having tanks made of iron so the dynamics aren't really the same, which is why i'm now about to run trusts just to make sure i understand what i'm doing as healer before making other players deal with it

I feel like I'd have to go non-exploding ring. For as shitty as Alexa/Fiend was, they atleast kept trying to make it work. I kinda hate how they tried to salvage the exploding ring by trying to spin it like it was intentional. Sometimes you have shitty ideas, but I respect atleast owning a shitty idea over trying to run from it in an equally shitty fashion.

but one was intentional, and people sat in the back and thought "this will be good". i don't see how they're even comparable
