The drive isnt there anymore. Community is split between the boards and Discord (and possibly IRC for a small handful)

And GameFAQs Contests in general arent as popular so User of the Year isnt as hype as the scope kept getting smaller and we kept having trouble finding new hosts when Smurf and Ed Bellis stopped hosting it.

in case anyone still isn't sure, i decided to end UotY as a year of hosting and 3 years of being discord admin made me privy to exactly how toxic it makes some people and that the fun levels have decreased severely and would only have dropped off more in coming years.

i'm actually of the belief that if it went away for a few years it might be worth running again in the future, and i'd be happy to do so - i enjoy running the project, that's no problem at all. i just don't think it's good for the board.

Really? That's just weird sounding. There are only a few bands where I might use that conjugation, like The Offspring or anything ending in S. (Note: The Offspring do not suck.)
