It's like this Jon Stewart quote I posted a little while ago, from a recent interview: "Its like porn. I dont mean that to be flip. When you were pubescent, the mere hint of a bra strap could send you into ecstasy. Im 57 now. If its not two nuns and a mule, I cant even watch it. Do you understand my point? The algorithm is not designed for thoughtful engagement and clarity. Its designed to make you look at it longer." Not just political things but any kind of bad news, outrage, hot takes, etc. etc. Sometimes I do feel like it's poisoning my brain, but now that restrictions are easing more where I am I'm able to get away from it more easily. |

And were partly responsible for Trump. And do a lot of things wrong. But I don't think that makes the media or journalism inherently bad. There are things they can do better, sure. Doesn't mean you have to throw the whole thing out just because they aren't perfect. That's classic conservatism lol. |

It's gotten progressively worse, particularly with what I witnessed during this past election cycle and about "Trump-Russia collusion". CNN and the like talked about it 24/7, like it was the *only* thing that mattered. Turned out to be false in the end anyways. This is actually a misconception and there is strong evidence that it was not in fact false and there was indeed some illegal activity, as to whether one would call it 'collusion' is beside the point. 'Collusion' isn't the legal term or test there. And there is evidence he's done something similar with China recently. Houston posted... They post race bait, click bait articles saying "White man does ____ to black person" but won't post and talk about instances where a black person did something to a white person. Most recent example is where a black man pushed down a 92 year old white woman. MSNBC, NBC, CNN, ABC --- not even an article. Only local news is reporting on it. If a white man pushed down a black lady so lackadaisically like this man did, it would be all over CNN on the front page. What I gather from what you said is not any actual evidence it just sort of seems to be a vague kind of feeling you have. |

In most instances, they're completely politicized and journalism of today is nothing compared to the journalism of old. They have an agenda and a clear bias and that's not what journalism is supposed to be All journalism inherently will have some bias, even if only by what is omitted. Can you give an example of how journalism was consistently better back in the day? What are you basing that on? What do you believe journalism is supposed to be? Do you have any examples of that? |
