Stalolin 11/24/20 4:57:15 PM #1 | I read about 75% of the first one and never saw the movie. It was okay. Apparently the new book is not good, at least according to certain social media circles. https://mobile.twitter.com/laura_hudson/status/1331271143421042688 https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/400-current-events/79132691 What fascinates me about it is how Cline could have easily taken a lot of the criticisms to heart and adapted, or like many artists do try to experiment a little or change the formula slightly. Instead he just seemed to double down. But then when you write a best seller (?) which gets made into a movie I can also kind of understand this mindset. |

Stalolin 11/24/20 2:32:03 AM #1 | The Prisoner Late one night in 1991, a twelve-year-old boy pulled out a gun and killed a cab driver on the East Side of San Antonio. Twenty-five years later, Edwin Debrow remains in prison for that murder, with fifteen more years left on his sentence. Is that justice? And is there room for mercy? https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/the-prisoner/ This is part of a series of topics that shares my love of longform journalism. And I know I do post a lot of Skip Hollandsworth but he's great. See below for previous articles. |
Topic | why does New Horizons feel like a downgrade from New Leaf in terms of enjoyment |
Stalolin 11/22/20 1:32:56 AM #9 | The music is definitely weaker. Nothing tops that Gamecube soundtrack though. Also yeah - less furniture options, but then you can customise, and a lot of it is dynamic with lighting and wind (fans blowing plants) and many are interactive. With all that said New Horizon isnt as good as New Leaf or GCN. And dont even get me started on villager dialogue and personality haha. |

Stalolin 11/17/20 5:55:29 AM #100 | I have mixed feelings. On one had, more women writers in games is awesome, also she's a fellow Aussie, also awesome. But then she hasn't released any fiction at all and seems to be close to Cory Barlog so it seems she just kinda got the job based on connections. Although I guess that's not too far removed from most jobs really. |
