End of the second period between Minnesota and Columbus. Minnesota fires a shot at Bobrovsky with 1 second left. He gets a piece of it, slowing it down, as it deflects over his shoulder and into the goal. But it was JUST after the buzzer that it crossed the line... so there's no doubt that his getting a piece and slowing it down prevented it from being a goal. Had he whiffed on it completely, it would have gone in the net with time left on the clock.

Trotz called him a top-end defenseman who has "refined the defensive part of his game." The Capitals could use added depth on their defense, whose third pairing is currently Brooks Orpik and Madison Bowey. They thought Kevin Shattenkirk was the answer last season. Green is a more known commodity.

And even then I'm not sure your assertion is true. Look at who is actually on their fourth line/third pairing. A lot of these guys wouldn't be on the team at all on MANY other teams.

Vegas is ridiculous not only because they're a collection of every team's 8th-best player. It's because that's what they started with, and THEN George McPhee traded away many of the best players he ended up with for draft picks and prospects. Their GM built this as a 3-5 year slow build project. He wasn't even trying to make the playoffs this year.

Some people are speculating that they'll be sellers at the deadline because that's still the plan.

The more I watch the metro, the less impressed I am.

But the more I watch the central, the more impressed I am. Pretty sure this is the best division, top to bottom, that I've ever seen. It's weird to consider that at least two of these teams will miss the playoffs, because I consider all of them to be legit playoff contenders. I consider all of them except Colorado to be capable of winning a series or two. Minnesota is lacking in offensive stars, Chicago has some blue-line issues, and Dallas has some depth challenges, but man... these are some good teams. All lumped together like that. It's crazy.
