UCF lost to nobody
Wisconsin narrowly lost to Ohio State in an extra game Alabama didn't have to play

Except against real opposition they didn't look impressive. They didn't play a ranked team until November. In their 3 games against ranked opposition in November they beat LSU, very narrowly squeaked past Miss State and then got beaten by Auburn.

Prior to November they had the Baylor schedule of the last few years of beating up on bad teams.

They beat Miss State by 7 on an end of game TD after being down in the 4th. They also only beat A&M by 8

Bama had 3 40+ point wins. Mercer, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

From November onwards (i.e crunch time) they did not remotely looked way worse than early season

I thought I was being pretty clear in the fact I didn't consider Alabama a top 4 team at selection time because they weren't.

It's not like I'm saying UCF with hindsight. I put my money where my mouth is and bet on UCF to beat Auburn outright, not even with the 11 point spread

I don't care that Alabama are from the SEC. From body of work they didn't deserve it. Their resume wasn't good and they lost their only match against meaningful opposition which is the same as Wisconsin except Wisconsin's loss was closer and in a conference title game Bama didn't play in.

They also have the same number of ranked wins as UCF and that's being generous imo since Miss State were only borderline ranked and USF inexplicably are not.

SEC are national champions because they got in.

Unbeaten team beats nobody all year then loses to a 2 loss Top 5 team in their final season game. Applies to both Alabama and Wisconsin, difference is Alabama got in despite Wisconsin's loss coming in an extra game Alabama didn't have to play. Both have similar SOS on websites that I checked.

Do I think Wisconsin should have been in? Not really but neither should Alabama.

So basically what I have read from the press is that the SEC is great because they won their playoff bowl games however you should not take the big 10's performance as meaningful becasue bowl games are not a good measurement for judgement. Also, the committee got everything right.

Checks out.

Basically this. I still think the SEC in general is overrated with Georgia and Alabama being better than I gave them credit for

It is also a travesty that UCF weren't given the chance at the playoffs. They beat the team who beat both the finalists so nobody can say they were out of their depth. Would they have won? Probably not but for me it ruins the legitimacy of the eventual champion through no fault of their own. We have a huge gaping gap between season end and bowl games to sort this shit out with an extra game if there's any doubt. They could have played Alabama in that period for that 4 slot. Of course it wouldn't ever happen but theoretically it's possible when there's a question mark.

What more can UCF do? Be in a power 5 conference? They tried that and the Big 12 got cold feet and cancelled the whole thing. Play a stronger out of conference? That is planned years in advance and no big teams are going to want to schedule UCF now. Win more? They have a Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl win in the last 4 seasons which is better than a ton of marquee schools in the same time period.

The system sucks for non power 5 schools as they can't get into a power 5 even when they want to and they can't consistently stay good because recruiting is so much harder especially when the power 5 come calling for your coach after a good season

I'd have gone for that on 4th and 1.

Why?

You are a team that has been called for 1 penalty (at 59 minute mark mind you) all game that has also gone to OT....

Short of throwing a pick 6 or fumbling away for 6 you ARE winning this game. Unless you are short on 4th down

They made the FG so it's whatever but if you have a 550+ yard 45 point scoring offense, I think you're just as likely to make the conversion as you are the FG. And if you convert you have a great chance of winning

If it's an incomplete pass then it's intentional grounding.

If it isn't intentional grounding then it's a fumble not a pass and Oklahoma has the ball all the way down the field.

I don't think it includes today's game but here is the records for each conference against other power 5 conferences this year (Doesn't appear to include Notre Dame either)

Big 10 - 14-5
Big 12 - 8-7
Pac 12 - 7-9
ACC - 10-13
SEC - 7-12

The SEC is ridiculously overrated this year anyway. I think they are 8-12 against Power 5 (plus ND) and their only ranked OOC wins were NC State and Notre Dame (by 1 point)

They got by on name value and most of the conference doing just enough of a circle jerk of mediocrity for them to look like 'good' wins when they weren't.

SEC OOC wins: Notre Dame, NC State, Louisville, Georgia Tech x2, Syracuse, Kansas State, FSU
SEC OOC losses: Wake Forest, Northwestern, Texas, Louisville, FSU, Clemson x2, Purdue, California, TCU, UCLA, Michigan, Troy

Like I don't have a problem with Georgia being in. I have a little bit with Alabama being in (who beat nobody). I get they are in because every body else shit the bed so it's ok I guess. But the SEC really was not good this year, I don't know why they were favored in both these playoff games.

EDIT: I forgot they picked up the Michigan win today too

Also aren't we forgetting the fact that an Auburn defender picked up the UCF RB and then spiked him on his head to no penalty. Which was way worse than Tre Neal going shoulder to back and then debatably brushing the front of his facemask

I'm still a ton of money up for the year but could have been more. I lost Big Ben, Bell, Hopkins and Adams this week (although I guess Adams and Hopkins might not have played anyway). It looks like I'll lose by about 20 and Cousins got me -0.6 points. If i grabbed Jimmy G instead like I would have if I realised Rams were resting everyone then I would be down by 1 right now

I'd like to thank Kirk Cousins for losing me a playoff game for the 3rd straight season. Twice via playing him and once by him blowing up against me. Next year I'm gonna grab him and sit his was on my bench so it can't happen again

Had to switch to my US PSN account because the 10 loot boxes I got with the game wouldn't activate on the EU account. Typically I only got 1 Legendary out of the 10 (free with game) + 6 (login bonus) + 7 (Leveling up) whereas on my EU account I got 2 Legendaries in the first 10 boxes (4 from level, 6 from login). Probably need to keep using my US account though as it's a pain in the ass to add funds for EU PS Plus from the states.

More game related question. How many heroes do you actually have to get good with? Like 2 from each category or is 1 from each category enough?

I don't get why you're upset. From what I read he fights Jiren but survives and then teams up with Goku and from the timeline he survives 2 minutes which is ridiculously good.

There's nothing saying he was eliminated and unless you expected him to eliminate Jiren like right away then him fighting him and surviving is pretty much the best amhe could hope for.

It could be worse, could be a Frieza fan. Spoilers suggest he can't even beat Dyspo solo as he needs Gohan's assistance

1st (after starting 0-6, I then won out)
3rd (10-4 regular season)
3rd (10-4 regular season)
Currently losing in a 2 week long championship game (9-4 regular season)

I drafted well in all 4 really but had to do some waiver acrobatics in the league I won. My entry fees for the year were $190 (1 league was free/no prize) and I'm going to walk away with $940-1190 so pretty decent year.
