I guess after 6 generations of these games they finally realized hey, there's a fuckton of these critters now, let's put a bunch of em in every area. Maybe this was a byproduct of having such a small crop of new pokeys, but it really made the games stand out in a big way for me. There were just so many options for cool Pokemon to use during the main story and I really liked that. RyoCaliente posted... Gen 6 totally rekindled my interest in the series. Fairy-type was a blessing, as now you can catch all Pokemon everywhere. How about a Dragon-type before the second gym? Why not, it has weaknesses now! It was peak pure Pokemon gameplay for me. I mentioned it! Like you said, Gen VI is probably the first game where I barely used Repels, just because I could get excited about all the potential cool Pokmon I could find on each route. | RyoCaliente 08/30/19 1:08:46 PM #54 | Gen 1 is nostalgia but when I think about it I immediately remember the absolute lack in variety of Pokemon when heading to Fuschia City and still finding trainers rocking their Pidgeys and Rattatas and bleh. Gen 2 is super nostalgia because Crystal was the first game I bought but I hate how the level curve is all over the place. There are trainers near Blackthorn rocking Lvl 27 Pokemon when Claire has a Lvl 41 Kingdra. But dat Kanto return tho... Gen 3 is also nostalgia but also the one where I kinda dropped off and I felt it had a poor variety in wild Pokmon. Best title theme though. Gen 4 is where I definitely dropped off. I don't hate it, but I don't really care for it. Gen 5 kinda rekindled my interest. Loved the design of everything, loved the new Pokemon that were the only ones you could use (although it also suffers from some of the same problems Gen 1 had...those damn fucking elemental monkeys man). Pokemon with a story too! Gen 6 totally rekindled my interest in the series. Fairy-type was a blessing, as now you can catch all Pokemon everywhere. How about a Dragon-type before the second gym? I guess it was kinda impressive what they could do on a handheld, but Sonic felt too slippery and I don't like the idea of SONIC IS FAST but it's a platformer so you gotta time your jumps... I think normal salty Doritos can easily be too bland for some people, while flavoured Doritos might exactly be too "strong". I can understand someone not liking chocolate, because I feel its's a food/candy/snack that you very quickly feel stuffed by. However, on a pure taste level, you have very sweet chocolate, you have bitter chocolate, and then there's milk and nuts chocolate and there's too many kinds of chocolate to actively dislike it, unless you have bad reactions to it. Then again I know someone who's lactose intolerant who loves cheese, so, y'know. But pizza? That's ridiculous. Neither my dad, sister, or mother like pizza and I think they're insane for it. There's so many different things you can have on a pizza, and it's generally just a balanced meal in itself, offering everything you need in a meal. I totally feel the same way about spaghetti (but dislike paella, so maybe I'm weird in that). --- How paralyzingly dull, boring and tedious! |

And then I finally found one and it was MODEST. And I don't really bother with Natures and Abilities for just playing through the main game, but I do try to avoid the absolute worst possible ones, and...yeah. Just a mess. Following on that, I do wonder how EVs and IVs and DVs were figured out. The games never really explain them. If you inextricably link 007 to James Bond, you can have all of the other James Bonds (Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig) be "canon" rather than just all belonging to the same person. It would create such a cool idea imo that all these secret agents actually have to be the womanizer/male dinosaur persona because that's what's being 007 (in-universe, not outside of it) is all about. If you then make 007 into a woman, the 007 doesn't mean anything. It's just a code-name, with no history attached to it, without legend. Either you turn him into a woman but keep the characteristics, but then what's the point, you've just cast a woman but she's playing a man. Or you change the character, but why then call her 'Jane' Bond? Why then keep the name of that franchise? The Doctor turning into a woman makes sense; there's little, if anything, inherently masculine about the Doctor. Aside from that, the regenerations constantly turn him into a new person, with a different personality and a different being than the one who came before. Ghostbusters was always more about a group of guys rather than one guy; altering that to a group of girls isn't that far-fetched. Like, if there's any spy movie you wanna genderswap, go for Mission: Impossible. Tom is getting too old for that shit anyway! --- How paralyzingly dull, boring and tedious! |

None of the characters get to really do anything (aside from Gamora) and are just there to do their fighting stuff and omg they get killed off wow so cool so edgy I mean they're totally getting revived next movie so any emotional feelings attached to it are kind of whatever. I've never really understood the hate for Dark World? I think it was quite a fun movie that went by quickly, did some more fun Thor+Loki stuff and a very pretty movie as well. I don't dislike any of the Spider-Man movies (the opposite really) but with both I felt that something was missing. In a way, neither of them feel like they really fit the MCU in a way. They feel like they happen outside of it, even more than some of the TV shows, I don't know what it is. Also I didn't grow up with Spider-Man and Homecoming is literally the first time I ever saw Spider-Man so I don't have warm, fuzzy, youth/nostalgia feelings for him, maybe that was part of it (even though I DO like him). --- How paralyzingly dull, boring and tedious! |
