I didn't have any grand revelation overnight or in the shower about how to get into that beehive so maybe next time I play I'll actually head back to the colosseum and try the trial of the fool again. After that I'm... not sure where else to even look for more stuff, so maybe I'll go take on the Hollow Knight again

I thought white palace was great!

it was soooo good! That scene at the end of Path of Pain was very sweet too. The platforming through the rest of the palace was so easy by comparison I was just doing goofy tricks to cut corners for fun lol

using the collector's map I went on a Grub Hunt. I have only 2 left. One looks like it's under King's Station (but it's probably up from something under King's Station?) and one is in this giant beehive I've discovered, but I cannot figure out how to get into it! So that's my current mystery.

The nailsmith wanted me to strike him down with the Pure Nail and I'm like, no way man you don't need to die! but i tried to read his thoughts with the Dream Nail and... he had none. So like, his soul wasn't there anymore, anyway. So I did it.

White Palace in general rules! Brilliantly designed, I thought, and nothing wrong with some variety when the game does already have some precise platforming, just in tidbits. Plus, it's for the true ending (well...) and you can get the regular ending without it

I don't know why I'm taking Guiga's post into account here when he's just a ball of negativity in every topic he enters. That guy must be fun at parties.

yeah it was awesome!! I stumbled across Path of Pain and knew it was for me. Died to the bosses at the end 3 times before I got them the 4th lol

Path of Pain was so much fun

in the white palace and suddenly it's super meat boy

the worst part is you recover almost no soul so you can't heal

welp no boss has fucked me up so fast as this failed knight in the dream. I can't last 15 seconds in this fight!

oh whoops i never went back to the stone sanctuary after getting my lantern. No Eyes was a neat fight although very, VERY easy this late in the game lol

...is there another ending or something? Again my memory of this game is super shaky but I thought there was something else. Do you maybe have to collect something optional to see another ending?

Marmu is pretty annoying if you're not being careful. Dying there and having to do the runback without realizing the next bench is right past them is awful.

haha, I saw his ghost and thought "well i'll just finish exploring the garden and come back" and THANK GOD I did

okay absolutely cruel that you can't focus to heal after you beat his first phase and he crashes through the floor. I just wanted to take a second to recover before round two!

I see you got to the best part of any good Metroidvania: upgrades, upgrades everywhere!

And yeah, it sounded like you fought the Hollow Knight without killing all the Dreamers. I was thinking for a second that was possible and my mind was blown.

Also the Colosseum is soooo good. Round 3 is definitely no joke. Beat it now while the reward is still useful.

i mean I killed the three masked dreamers because that opens the seal on the black egg. But yes there are still some dead knights here and there I'm scrambling to find to collect essence and upgrade the dream nail

actually just finished exploring the queen's garden and fought a pretty annoying bouncing guy
working on Soul Tyrant now! this guy is no joke!

Fun fact: I fought hornet again before getting the double jump by killing my self near the double jump ledge and sword hopping on my dead spirit

so round 1 and 2 of the colosseum were no problem at all but round 3 is no joke

okay I found the Hollow Knight himself and fought him once to try it out, but my completion is only 63% so I went back out to do more exploring

ran into Hornet and dueled her again. God it's so much fun. She's having a good time which makes me have a good time. Then afterward I..... became king?? what does this mean?? I still can't get through those shadowy barriers

anyway I found the colosseum so it's time to hang out here for a bit

okay stopping for now in the Queen's Garden. This game is so big lol

having so much fun exploring. I have so much freedom of movement now!!

Lost Kin was the best fight in the game omg it must have taken me 15 tries. What an amazing fight.

ok I do have all the map markers but i will also keep notes of unexplored paths in text here as I retrace all my steps

Greenpath has 2 paths on the left. The top one is the super long non-bouncing spikes room. Need to either move the shelled flying guy and bounce on him, or have a bunch of airdashes. Bottom left is a one way path from somewhere else. The inscription hints at some boss there. Maybe once I get do something in Lake of unn, this is the exit point

Fog Canyon has a darkness barrier just to the right of the entrance from Greenpath. There's an acid swimming room, marked that.

found Galien and died once to him but crushed him the second time. What kind of warrior stands back and bounces a ball around? geez

wow dang okay beast's den! and the first of the three dreamers! I hate spiders and I'm very ready to be out of here. But... I can't find my way out now lol

alright i'm super lost now. the world is big and yet I don't know where to go next. Surely there's more places I can desolate dive but I can't remember/find them!

oh Elder Hu was a fun fight. pretty different than the others so far

wow I was trying out my dive and found a blue lake. And that looped back around to the last place in forgotten crossroads I couldn't get to (but it's still a one way drop) AND opened up an elevator to the city of tears? man this whole game is so interconnected in many ways

man I was exploring with a full wallet like an idiot and fell into the waterways and ran into... was his name Dung Defender? but it was a pretty fun fight! Got him in 1.

idk about that badge he gave me...

omg that fight with the soul master was suuuuper fun! and desolate dive is AWESOME. Not only opens new areas but it looks and feels so cool.

Last night I also fought some knight that floated up in the air and threw swords at me like some kinda Gilgamesh. He was really really easy compared to the Mantis Lords, though.

The City Crest entrance is the primary path that most people follow after Mantis Village because there are some breadcrumbs leading you that way, like a few appearances from Hornet running off the screen like she does in Greenpath. From there players typically splinter off in one of two directions, depending on if they <REDACTED>, <REDACTED>, or <REDACTED>.

The thing is, if you come in City of Tears from that side, you can't reach the right side of the city because there's a gate you have to open from the right. The farthest they get is the shrine. So even if it feels like you did things the hard way, there was definite gain for taking the long way. Plus you had one heck of an adventure! I can only imagine how much fun you must have had exploring.

okay phew I got the map of the city of tears. This place is HUGE! Gotta go to bed here, but I'll explore the rest of the city now that I have the map next time I play

decided to do some backtracking and found a dash puzzle from ages ago that leads to a statue where i could insert the "City Crest"? but the door slammed shut behind me! so now I'm BACK in this rainy city but maybe this was the correct way?? and I came the back way last time?

okay so I met Hornet again and she's still awesome. This rainy area is super atmospheric

but um... i'm not feeling great about killing these... like normal townspeople?? the giant knights are fun to fight though. Still, I wonder if I should like, not kill the normies. I was already having doubts and then I went in a house and it was like a whole family! and a glowing guy in the back that exploded into tons of geo. I felt really bad.
