phantasy star 1 is really my jam more than anything. a badass chick as the hero. but she's still looking good in a miniskirt and white leather boots. guns, sci-fi, and a morgue.

i was, as dante said, in a "dark wood" circa 2011. i put down everything for 3 days and just played through the entire game from my bed. i moved my bigass CRTV into the bedroom and played it on the Wii VC, made me forget my problems and afterwards i just picked up the pieces and kept going.

later that year, after everything was much better, i played through phantasy star 2, and that was just pure fun and amazing.

but i tend to prefer the bittersweet, if not just the purely bitter. phantasy star one literally made me nauseated to play (1st person motion sickness) at times but it's still my favorite.

i also bought phantasy star 3 on the VC, but i never finished it.

im here to fix that.

itt ill be playing phantasy star 3. there will be spoilers from me, but no spoilers allowed. i will play the game at variable rates, minimum 5 minutes per day. i will complete the game and often wax poetic.

so far i have found mieu, the cyborg anime. she's been equipped with 2x claws and we are grinding outside the city.

with a cyborg in my party, the boat man allows us to go to the island. we've made one trip into the cave so far, and mieu died.

back to town. we have no money.

edit: dragon quest 1, 2, 3, 4 are fucking amazing and definitely hold up. DQ2 is one of the most underrated games of all time. also Ultima 1-4, dos versions except for the NES version of 3

to an english speaker the in is just silent when you say the word.

thing is, every language has stuff like this.

take the "hobbit" "po-tay-toes"

in speech youre gonna use a schwa for the "po" or even a gutteral stop so that it sounds like "p'tay-tuhs" or "p'tay-toes" when you use the word in a sentence.

also the sounds before and after a sound can have an effect on the sound in a sentence.

things like "whadyou want"

and then there's stuff they WONT teach you in a textbook that's still essential for sounding like a native speaker. words like "gonna" in English you really need to know mean "going to" but it could be hard to figure that out if you only had a webster's dictionary and didn't know wtf that word meant.

anyway, you are focusing on minor stuff. think about japanese speakers learning english: they might be fluent and still confuse "L" and "R" and it wouldnt really matter all that much. you can do the same.

-There would always be exactly 1 moon in the sky, no matter where you were on earth.
-The moons would always be exactly opposite in terms of phases: if moon 1 was full, moon 2 would be new, and vice-versa.
-tides would be about 1.75x more extreme: higher high-tides and lower low-tides.
-lunar and solar eclipses would occur twice as often as they do now

on advice from posters in an earlier topic, i stuck to the traditional lamp paradigm, aside from using a distributed version of sqlite. long way to go, esp. before parity with gamefaqs' feature set, but at least the stack is tied together and the most basic functionality is working.
