Many secrets lie inside the Mountain. He has complex control over the shifting secret passages and booby traps within. He has got lesser beings to help with the setup of spike pits, Ptolemaic keys, and other such things (though to be honest, it was more out of boredom and vanity. He could easily just drop you into a big hole, don't really need spikes at the bottom). The lava at his roots gives him access to pressurized acid and poison gas, which he can release at will, if he senses the need. Poison gas vents aren't necessarily everywhere, but there are a lot of them. He also has boiling hot water and steam at his command. The animals that live in and around him consider him a god and will do his bidding. He's smart, but not a genius. He has 1000s of years of experience to draw upon. One box can hold millions and ruin an entire ecosystem. It's already everywhere. There is so much microplastic in the water that your internal organs (heart, liver, etc) already have small amounts of plastic in them. EDIT: From what I've seen we need tougher restrictions on shipping boxes of microplastics. A few boxes fell apart in New Orleans recently and they got EVERYWHERE. It fails to take into account the Lucca stuff also. Lucca comes across as "denying too much" that she'd be into Ayla and it comes across as bi-curious. Woolsey understands this when he's making his translation and tries to keep the spirit of it (characters being surprised by this crazy cavewoman unbound by traditional societal morals). It also make sense. We know without society people are more likely to be queer or embrace it. Bisexuals wouldn't see the need to mask their sexuality. Mostly the writer of the article doesn't understand how fucking closeted the 1990s were as well as how subtle Japanese people are going to be about sexuality. Metal Gear Solid 2, for example, got a "Sexual Themes" tag for simply having a bisexual character (nothing sexual is discussed in the game). Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Japan today (although their Legislature has been ordered by the courts to make it legal very soon). We think of all the hentai and whatever, but they are still puritanical (just not about nudity).
