finally, i have played the very first roguelike although it is very different if you will notice seriously.

remake of the very first? probably not.

similar to other games, except in this one it is the presence that you pick up that u can then use 4 a variety of magic spells, abilities, money, items, randomizers, and other effects.

it's the other effects that send the present count into the 100s for this game

it's really nice how this game has all the manuals in nice hi res images for you to browse, which is superior.

anyway, just some thoughts! catch you later!

karateka was the first game, i think flashback and blackthorne were inspired.

pitfall is really similar in a lot of ways i think.

karateka is actually really fun, but PoP is the best, and the dos version is the best version.

i might play the nes version too.

This was one of the first games I ever played, and it's always seemed really daunting.

I remember one random day in high school I got in the zone and got really far on the NES version, which isn't easier as far as i know, but I have so many memories of playing the DOS version on an IBM 386.

Figuring this shit out is a lot of fun. Even getting just a little further feels very rewarding.

This game was awesome for letting you explore in any direction, and not just being a left-to-right kind of game. Every screen feels like a new mini-level. The deaths are bloody and don't fuck around. I always thought the deaths were awesome, plus you have infinite lives, so it never feels that bad.

Tomb Raider obviously takes a lot of inspiration from this game. If you can appreciate the original Tomb Raider then I think you'd like the DOS Prince of Persia. Pitfall!, A Boy and His Blob, Another World, Black Thorne (SNES), Tomb Raider, are all kind of similar games.

Also the 1 hour time limit was always like "o so ill never beat the game." seemed impossible. There's a savefile, basically a savestate that will only work at the start of the level, so im sure beating the game is very do-able.

But do I have the mental fortitude?

Anyone else like this game?

ill give you guys an example.

im salaried, and given the option to pick up "extra" work duties, but they only pay me at the contract-worker rate for those overloads. im already at 40 hours so extra work means 50 hours, at least. if they paid me 1.5 my normal rate id probably do it, but they pay like 60% of my normal rate for "overtime"

so, obviously, i don't take on the extra duties because they pay worse than my job, but many colleagues are forced to take them, or need money, and so they get exploited.

most plays = most plays

idk how you can say with a straight fucking face shes "not breaking records" or whatever the fuck.

we can talk about how fame is more important than talent, sure.

but she's not operating under some different laws of physics or reality--if it's so easy then why didn't drake or lil wayne or whoever the fuck do it? cause they are trying, and they can't.

it's that simple.

i don't care if you like the album, her music, or her.

but a high score is a high score, and you all look extremely petty by saying the person who got that high score doesn't deserve it, even though she's just playing the fucking game.
