If a characters age being different in the books is really that huge of a plot point for you, I'd highly recommend not reading anything about GoT ever again until you read the books. People seem to slip actual spoilers into all sorts of things about it without even realizing.

So in the course of, like, a month, I went from 'You seem like a pretty smart guy' in his 'who's graduating?' topic, to 'ignore list'. How did I do it?

By telling Sess that I preferred him when he was a better troll, or just when he isn't not trolling like when he made the Graduating topic and actually acts like a normal human being. The straw that really broke the camels back was responding to him exactly like he responds to literally everyone else these days.

That link does help a lot, but I was also hoping for a 'what can my pickaxe mine' guide.

I built an Extractor in my single player game, realized I put it in the wrong place, hit it with a pickaxe, and only got the Machine block back. Took half an hour to find more rubber. But the Generator beside it mined fine, so I dunno.

Well I tried single player a little more (found out that the reason I spawned in a glitchy ocean was because I guess Tekkit is the multiplayer version, so I went to Technic) so that I wouldn't enter the server a complete noob.

I didn't read the whole topic, but I think a lot of the problem is that people like Sess, Ulti, etc, who used to be actual users seem to be devoted 100% to trolling now (in really predictable ways too, alpha/beta, Obama conspiracy theories, xmfd this post, damage control, etc), and the second they say anything in a topic the topic immediately becomes about whatever they said. Kind of kills discussion.

Because Sanderson isn't a very good writer. I never made it more than halfway through Elantris.

He literally wrote a book on a single airplane ride, didn't edit it, and then sold it direct to fans at an insane price. It really shows in his work how little effort he puts in beyond 'pound out the words'.
