Look for the following damage control phrases by lib8erals, pundits, and The Daily Show in the coming days:
-"He would have lost if we had a true liberal candidate running against him" -"Blah blah Koch Brothers blah" -"Walker won because the people will tricked by the millions of dollars worth of ads!" -"Blah blah Citizens United blah" -"Disenfranchisement" -"Bought the election"
It's amazing and hilariously predictable how liberals will never just admit that maybe their position is not popular. It always has to be that the Republicans cheated, or that the electorate was deceived into voting a certain way.

I doubt I'm going to get more than a "DAMAGE CONTROL XFD" response to this, but... this doesn't contradict with some of the reasons you listed. People who give these reasons don't deny the liberal position is unpopular, they're saying the position is unpopular because the electorate was deceived into thinking conservatism is superior to liberalism or whatever.
I don't know about other situations but as a Wisconsonian I can at least say I know the whole recall election thing is totally messed up. You can't seriously think the recall is unpopular when the petition had nearly as many signatures as the entire previous gubernatorial election. The fact that this somehow doesn't translate into actual political support in the polls makes no sense to me at all. I mean I'm seeing these dumb ads Walker has spent all this money on. Do people really get "tricked" into this? Does all the liberal support go away once you get past hating on the established leader and have to start supporting your own guy? Very weird.

Yeah, I get really confused by the recall as well. When they got enough signatures for the recall election, I remember them talking about how there were more recall signatures than Walker got votes to get elected, so where do all these people go? They care enough to sign the recall petitions but don't care enough to go vote?
Regardless, I voted Barrett and hope desperately that he wins. If he loses though, it'll be for a very obvious reason - he got less votes. There won't be damage control, from me, at least. I'll just be sad.

Again
"The only reason we aren't winning is because voters were tricked"
That mentality is beyond elitist

I've found my life about 95% more enriching since I stopped caring about all that political non-sense, and my plan to move somewhere else and use my talents to help some other country's economy once I've graduated is coming along pretty swell. God bless the divided states of embarrassment lmfao.
Seriously though SephG you should find something else to devote all your energy to, I think your life would improve. If nothing else, your blood pressure would.

Alrighty, just cast my vote for Barrett. I'm allowed to complain either way now right?
full disclosure my license is still illinois but I did push my mom's wheelchair to the polling place so she could vote so that counts right? I got a sticker for it

No, no, no. They messed with the lever. You pull it up, then up, then down, then down, then left (OMFG WUT), then right, then left, then right, and it counts your vote as 30 votes.

There's always hope for better things in life. But you can't let anything, friend, lover, God himself, be your hope. You have to be your own hope.
the poor people who hate unions hate them because they hear union and think "major league baseball and screen actors guild". Most think pro athletes and actors are overpaid (fun fact, with how much revenue they generate, they are actually underpaid and fat cats pocket the rest), but it makes them hate unions.

No, we hate unions because the vast majority of them are public sector employees who exploit their electoral influence over office-holders to get incredibly cushy job and pension benefits that bankrupt the state. California's teacher union is almost singlehandedly responsible for the state's broader government issues and has taken its schools from among the best in the nation to just about the worst.

so you are against what the Koch brothers do also right? Or is it cool for you to have private sector people exploit their electoral influence to get tax breaks that bankrupt the state?
If capitalism is fair, then Unionism must be. If men have a right to capitalize their ideas and the resources of their country, then that implies the right of men to capitalize their labor.

As a public sector employee let me just say LMAO.
There are far too few federal employees right now, which is why everything is so backed up. I work my butt off for 8 hours a day, make a ton of headway on my work only to find that an equal or greater amount of work is lined up for me, making it so theres virtually no chance ill ever catch up to the present.
We have a hard job, in a field where more people are desperately needed and i dont know single federal employee who is able to just be lazy at work.Without our benefits packages, theres no reason for anyone to choose government work over the private sector. period.
