I completely believe that people may not like the tone of DC movies. But that doesn't explain how emotional people get about it. That's what fanboys do. If you don't believe there isn't some level of tribalism going on here, then you're ignoring human nature. People do things like this. Nobody admits to doing it, but this is basic humanity 101 we're talking.

Maybe people get emotional about it because DCEU fanboys often insist that people don't like their movies are too "stupid" to get it, which is why they like "dumbed down" Marvel movies.

Alternatively, maybe some of these so-called "Marvel fanboys" actually like both companies and are continuously disappointed by the lack of quality in the DC movies when compared to Marvel. After all, if you were a diehard Superman fan and you hated Cavill's Superman, you'd be pretty pissed too if they told you that this Superman was going to be the live-action Superman you're stuck with for the next 15+ years.

I'll be the first to admit I talk shit about DC a lot but truthfully, I just want to see good comic book movies.

Man of Steel was okay, Batman v. Superman was a complete trainwreck, Suicide Squad was a mildly enjoyable trainwreck and Wonder Woman was legitimately great. The DCEU failing means I don't get my good Green Lantern movie and I want my fucking Green Lantern movie.

If being nice is the first thing that comes to mind as a good, "selling" quality, you're dead out of the gate. Nice guys are a dime a dozen and never stand out on that merit alone.
