I don't see how it matters that we could massively release greenhouses gases and then introduce plant life until the atmosphere was breathable. The fact that Mars is the way it is PROBABLY MEANS that the circumstances of our solar system would eventually undo our hard work and return it to the desolate and lifeless place it is today. The moon's gravity, of about a twelfth, is passable, but it's essentially made of asbestos.

Though the earliest form of humans dates back to 2 million years ago. I'd like some references on that, please. For some perspective, the universe is estimated to be 13.8 billion years ago and the Earth is 4.5 billion years ago. We've also only been in heavy industry for only a few hundred years. Imagine where we could be in a mere 10,000. Compare the 2010s to the 1980s. The "modern" era dates mostly back to pretty much Hitler, when we figured out jet propulsion, rockets, and particle physics. We've done more since the 1930s than we have in the eight or nine thousand years before, when Ur happened. Human advancement is on a huge hyperbolic curve, and that's awesome.

My graduating class, in 1993 rural Missouri, didn't really have cliques, but I was vaguely associated with the "psycho" one. One of my friends died when those guys decided to skip and play russian roulette for some reason. I didn't want to that day, or really any day.

But at minimum in the recent past quite a few species coexisted, most of which were fairly intelligent. Homo sapiens themselves have been around for a very long time compared to recorded history - youll find wildly varying estimates. I believe some recent discoveries have pushed them back pretty far. Cro magnons and Neanderthals disappeared because homo sapiens quite literally fucked them to death.

The flavor ban was meaningless anyway, for much the same reason that a pack of Cheyenne smokes are about a dollar-fifty.
