Nothing like the old ultra violence, manhunt and gta were wholesome games while growing up when similiar or older kids couldn't even watch disney or nickelodean for the dumbest of reasons.

Skimpy female outfits or just femine form still makes me feel shameful/bad at times and I'm not even talking about porn... something still shaking off over the years. Gotta love skewed morals/upbringing.

Yeah, basing it on this topic and the other that was an hour prior, they're doing a rolling death. So blocks of servers are going down vs all at once. This makes sense for updates such as windows update or something, but this makes it just depressing to be in CA and have your friend in NY disappear forever for 1-1.5 hours before you knowing your time is soon.

Funny thing about the app for the phone, they were still pushing it for download till the very end... "take it as a momento"

Interesting, if you're actually still on... then it means they're doing the rolling out method. Where blocks of users get dropped/updated based on servers or however they handle their data.

Was curious if they'd do the rolling or everyone at once method.

Caution999 posted...
I can't help but wonder if it still runs in AOL, but I can't be bothered to download that garbage.

Very doubtful, the entire aim service was ended. If you go try to even find it in their support/faqs it was hard to find anything as they began removing stuff 2ish weeks ago. Basically looks as if it never existed in the first place. You have to actively search for it and the only thing you get now, unless it too was pulled, is the page saying it'll be ended on the morning of dec 15. Which slightly jumped the gun as it was still 10:23pm pst...

I figured they'd do it during the normal roll over hours at 5ish am cst when they typically did stuff. However, I guess they too decided "it's dead, jim". So yeah, no point in downloading aol for desktop as the aim service itself is now done(or is in the process of being murdered data wise) and you'd just be wasting your time with that.

Yep, they even nuked the web browser approach as now it just gives an invalid url error. aim.com that is, so no point in bothering to run it off aol for desktop.

Well, that was a bit abrupt...

I was honestly hoping for it to give the "shoot, something seems to have gone wrong. wait a moment and try again" error.

Would have been fitting.

On the plus side, I now have a program that opens a box to let me click "try again" to my heart's content.
