they talked about highlight on vlive. eunjin is a huge kikwang fan, and somyi said she likes 'dream girl' which is a great beast ballad and a deep cut, but augh calling beast songs highlight songs even though everyone does it. can't stop is really good though, and better than either gfriend comeback this year imo.

the voiceover intro feels like a throwback to mama, except the self-seriousness of the original is actually funnier. i like the suggestion of a 'love me right' planet though, as it clears up any inconsistencies with their uniforms because now they're playing some alien sport. this is good myth building for nerds.

I like a lot of them too, but when I really get down to it, it's Natty or bust. Otherwise, I like Youngjoo, Haneul, Hayoung, and Tasha in particular. Haein was one of my faves on 101, but sometimes I forget she's on this show for how little they focus on her, not that she needs it. With Jiheon, I kind of feel like she should maybe take her good grades and find a better career? She's also probably the only one left who I would say is too young. Natty is young, but she's already the best on the show, and has loads of experience. Plus we've seen when she was really too young, so it's different mentally.

On the show as a whole, I thought the first 2 episodes were great as a gentler alternative to 101 focused on learning, but then they introduced eliminations, and it became 101-lite with understandably worse performances. There's something haphazard about the production, like pre-empting an episode with a dozen facebook streams instead, or going from no eliminations to yes eliminations to soft eliminations to the eliminated trainees walking away probably because mnet never actually worked out the logistics of how they would keep them around. They kind of shifted back to learning after, but they also stopped giving screen time to Natty so I cared less.

The final group is potentially going to have four members with no skills to cover for, which is fine since it's just kpop but that's kind of the fascinating risk with these groups designed by committee. Every time they're playing with fire, and one day we'll have a group full of nothing but Sohyes.

i know i-fans love hobgoblin, and song-wise i agree, but i think WAY is better concept-wise? they pulled off hobgoblin well, but it def. fit some members better than others, and if they continued down that route they'd still be called 4minute 2.0.
