It's better than nothing, but what we really need is some level of monthly stimulus that can't be taken away until some combined economic / public health benchmarks are met. Otherwise, the minute that President Biden steps into office, the GOP is going to go full-obstruction.

If this were a plot to increase my odds in the guru, Id have chosen a less conspicuous name for my alt, lol. For what its worth, I was never going to attempt to stake a claim on the prize. I hear you though, in terms of not encouraging joke entries to become a regular thing in the future. I do feel guilty about doubling the work of our generous community members who take the time to enter the brackets into the guru site. I like the idea of splitting up PC into multiple categories for purposes of a Systems contest. I always thought of CD-ROM as it's own platform, for example. I'm not sure how granular you can go on the tech before it gets too convoluted though. Ng's suggestion of "old-school" and "modern" is probably the cleanest way to do it.

Speaking of enforcing the guru pick, what happens if the next contest is, like, Best System Ever? Would that even have nominations?

There's a deceptively large number of little-known consoles, which might make for fun entries. Or you could have the gurus boost the seeding of a well-known system. Hopefully Allen would keep the nomination process open.

I mean, the Guru contest is merely a gentlemen's agreement. There's nothing to enforce actually changing sigs, so I wouldn't blame anyone who wouldn't want to be stuck praising the name of a virus that may have put themselves out of work, or even robbed a loved one of their life.

Of course, the fact that the account was banned also means their choice of character or game for the next contest would also be unenforceable. If something like this ever happens again, I think it's ok to default to second place.

The slapstick stuff with Hux really didn't do it for me. On the other hand, Hux reaching for his blaster when Kylo was on the floor of the throne room, then backing off... that's when the character was at its best.

Theres a lot to like about FFVIII despite some broken mechanics and dumb plot twists. I cant really defend the game from the criticism it gets but its easy for me to look past it.

The city of Rapture fails because Objectivism doesn't have a good answer for problems like Frank Fontaine. Fontaine exploits class stratification, seizes control of Rapture's economy and breaks the non-aggression principle by murdering people. Andrew Ryan is too philosophically rigid to intercede at first but ultimately ends up betraying Objectivist principles by introducing new laws, nationalizing Fontaine's business and responding to violence with greater violence.

Screech's Sprint works well as a final level; the music and gameplay gimmick both ratchet up the tension as the level progresses.

Perilous Platforms is perfectly fine from a gameplay standpoint, but the music is way too chill. Tonally, it's off.

Poisonous Pipeline has a bad gimmick and kind of feel anticlimactic, imo.

No, they dont. Some hold the occasional zoom meeting or have assignments given out, but unless the district/class is one-to-one for technology they cant ensure every student has access to a computer/internet and arent allowed to grade based on online/home work.

This is the more-accurate portrayal of what's going on with K-12 in CA, in my experience. While schools will be advancing most students to the next grade level, they've still lost months worth of instruction. This isn't going to be sustainable come fall. Something will have to give.

I was behind 145 people yesterday on the overall standings. I got the perfect 8 points today and only moved up about 20 places. Competition is getting stiff near the top, and it looks like someone will need 4 points tomorrow (which is no guarantee) and then to pretty much run the table for the remainder of the round in order to break into or stay on the Top 50.

Great job with the predictions this year, everyone.

You'll be moving up 2 places for sure. Kingdom Hearts III is going to drop my main out of the Top 50. My joke entry is also gonna sink like a brick unless Dark Souls powers through to the final. You still have a chance!

The one move that might be confusing based on the description text is Cloud's Infinity's Edge. This move is a good choice for doing increased damage on a staggered enemy but it doesn't actually raise the bonus multiplier for the rest of your party.

Assess (or press the touchpad any time if you need to see the Assess info again)
exploit weakness
use staggering moves while the enemy is under pressure
use stagger multiplying moves while the enemy is staggered
repeat

When exploiting a weakness, it's often best to wait for the enemy to act first (blocking or dodging when appropriate), then immediately fire off your ATB action to avoid interruption. Alternatively, you can build up ATB on your active character, switch characters (attracting enemy focus to someone else), then safely command your first character to use their ATB.

The most efficient way to deal with Silence is to recognize the pre-attack animations and attack names which appear above an enemy's head, and get out of the way. If you get hit, you can cure Silence with items (on Normal difficulty or below) or give one of your characters this materia combination:
Binding = Warding
Cleansing

The trainyard area went on a little too long, imo, but I like what they were going for. OG FFVII's enemy designs are really out there, and Remake does a pretty great job of contextualizing every single one of them. Maybe it tries a little too hard in some places and ends up stretching itself thin, but I enjoyed most of the new / expanded areas (with one exception near the end). The worldbuilding is pretty phenomenal.

Editing logic only goes so far in all-stars seasons, imo. Kim would be out if this were a normal season, but her lack of screen time might have a simple explanation: she's been surrounded by a cast of characters who make better TV than she does. Plus, I think the editors gave up trying to communicate what's going on, strategy-wise, several episodes ago. All I know is that the hyenas are eating the lions, and Sophie seems to be getting the lion's share of the credit right now.
