I'm still not totally clear on Xehanort's motivations but maybe I shouldn't know all that yet. Forge the x-blade to open the keyblade war?

From what I understand:

He wants to forge the x-blade to open the way to the True Kingdom Hearts which will in turn supposedly kick off Keyblade War 2. 'Something' happens during the Keyblade War / near the end of it which basically fucks the world up royal to the point where it can be remade.

Xehanort wants to remake the world in his image, one where light and darkness are 'in balance'...or something like that?

I'm playing through KH1FM right now. Man, I forgot how much that game goes downhill in the second half.

The absolute confusing insanity of Monstro ( you can go through the same door twice and end up in a different area! In a dungeon where every area looks identical!), the awfulness of Atlantica ( you'd think by changing the controls to this awful swimming system and removing all your defensive abilities they would make the battles easier to compensate, but nope!), and Captain Hook's fucking awful pirate ship ( let's all have a bunch of 3D Battles inside rooms that are all built smaller than an outhouse!) really killed my desire to complete the game.

Luckily things picked back up by Hollow Bastion, but ugh....

I didn't find Monstro too bad. Ignore everything, just run to the first door you see every time and you'll be done with it super quick (or maybe I just got lucky to not get super lost).

Fuck Atlantica though.

Haven't personally played DmC but from what I've seen it seems alright. Probably around DMC1 in terms of ranking (it would have been fine if it was its own thing instead of pretending to be Devil May Cry). DMC2 is clear bottom tier

KH3 and DMCV are my top ones though there are many others I am hype for (DOOM Eternal, Nioh 2, Sekrio, Death Stranding, Smash, RE2, etc).

This E3 was good to me.

I'd put BBS as "pretty good". Its not on the level of KH1 and KH2 but as said its pretty polished in the collection version. Also has some pretty epic moments.

BBS is most definitely important to the plot though

BBS and DDD are the most important.

CoM is only really necessary if you are playing the series in order to make sense of 2 but if you've already played 2 its less important.

0.2 doesn't really add much to the plot but its like 3 hours long so... might as well?

358/2 Days is almost certainly going to be relevant in KH3 as well but you'll probably just not know who one character (who is almost certainly going to be minor) is or why she's important to Roxas and Axel.
