That seems incredibly stupid because it'll just either just devolve into Popeye being wanked into some kind of multiversal terror due to breaking the fourth wall and cartoon antics, or it'll literally be just one punch. Saitama doesn't get any wacky gag powers aside from literally being the gag, so they can't even do gag vs gag logic.

Fiction influences reality on many occasions and vice versa. There's also the fact that many in the player base deal with real life racism/bigotry and don't want to see it in a game they play for enjoyment.
Sterilizing a work because some people have shitty friends is kind of backwards in my opinion. If someone is so hung up on adherence to the lore that they're going to make someone uncomfortable, then they're going to be a shitty person pushing for that kind of stuff regardless of how tame it's made. It's not like there aren't discussions to be had about fiction being out of date compared to the morals of modern day, but this feels like an overcorrection by far.

But humans aren't the only playable characters, so no the alignment system shouldn't be solely based on their POV. And if you say a race is created to wholly be good/evil, that's explicitly racist.
I get that we don't want to affirm real life biological racism and racist tropes, but, again, we're talking about a universe in which mortals are literal playthings of the gods. If you're saying that the writing sucks, I think that's a perfectly valid criticism, but I think this kind of stuff involves a bit too much projection of real life issues onto fiction. There certainly exists fiction influenced by the authors' shitty views, but that's not inherently going to be the case in all fiction with weird morality systems.

Except it's not presented as a differing point of view/perspective. They are, explicitly, evil period. There's exactly ZERO nuance to it. That was the entire point and what this is attempting to rectify.
That's exactly my point. Something whose core values are inherently what we would describe as evil could exist. That there could be some room for variations that instead develop values close to our own could be a possibility as well. This is especially true in a world where there are races that were explicitly created and defined by gods, along with those that are heavily influenced by gods.

You're both missing the point. You can display racism as a bad thing in fiction but that's not what DnD was doing. They were actually promoting it as a sensible thing to be racist because certain races ARE just plain evil, period.

This change does more of what you're talking about since an entire race isn't actually "evil" anymore.
It's completely reasonable for there to be a race that is inherently evil from a human perspective. Something that has similar reasoning capabilities but possesses differing values would be something we'd see as evil. You can argue that the writing was shit so the execution was shit, but, whether created for the purpose of antagonism towards other races or having evolved in a similar but ultimately different way, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

What a dumb take. Villains can have relatable struggles and relatable goals. You can feel for what they were and recognize how they got to the point of becoming a villain, but evil is evil in this case. You can have grey areas where neither side is right in some works, but it's pretty damn clear he wanted violence for the sake of violence.

The problem is how do you have a super intelligent species that must act and behave in a specific way at all times? That fundamentally doesn't make sense. And if they're forced to act that way then are beholders really even evil? Most of D&D has skeletons & zombies as neutral alignment because of this.
Genetics/divine influence if they were directly created and modeled by a god. Extremely strong instincts can certainly override reason. I get that they don't want to associate it with stupid real world racist ideas, but we're literally talking about entities completely different from humanity.

Seems rather stupid. The idea that some races are plagued by evil influences is part of what makes roleplaying a good version particularly interesting, so trying to take away characteristics seems counterproductive. Like half of the Drizzt books are about him dealing with those things. It's one thing to slowly change the races through divine influences like I think they've been doing with dark elves, but another just to rewrite existing lore to make themselves feel good.

Films are basically a living entity due to all the moving parts, so the ability to control it exactly how you want will become impossible if the planning stages are messed up or things go wrong. You can have a fully established script and have it be torn to pieces after two years of backend shit. That's probably where a lot of bad movies come from. The rest are people with a lot of money and no talent who bruteforce their garbage into existence.

That's not a counterargument. Other countries seem to be able to parse actual salaries for wait staff and their tips on different scales instead of combining the two, so I don't know why America is granted such an exemption.
Yes, the system should be changed, but you seem to be applying your criticism to the system as-is based on the tone of your writing. As of right now in America, tips are their wage in the majority of restaurant setups, full stop. That it should change is a good opinion to have. To say that that, under the current system, tips are not their wage is just kinda weird, so either I'm misunderstanding your posts or you hold a weird opinion.

You're saying how the system should change, which is perfectly fair given that tipping culture is idiotic. The problem is that tipping culture is very real despite its stupidity, so your criticism makes no sense at this time. It'd be like going to countries where table tipping isn't a thing and getting offended that they're offended by you insisting that they need to take a tip.

Each department is its own ecosystem, so acting like they have any sway over each other beyond local area politics is silly. There are undoubtedly areas where nearly everyone in local government from the cops to the judges to the politicians are all corrupt as fuck, but to try to extrapolate local area corruption to every one of the ballpark million cops in the country is dumb. You can probably apply the same kind of standards to doctor and malpractice coverup, but we only focus on cops so much because they make for major headlines.
