Eddv vs. Scare This is a tough matchup but I don't really know if Scare has a strong answer for Havok and/or Leech. Lopen vs. Shaduln Lopen's team has some annoying shenanigans, but without Magneto I think Shad's gonna overpower him. Pitch Mega Mana vs. MegamanX If Future of X focused entirely on the younger crowd that's already dealt with alternate future issues in Rachel, Cable, and Shard, this would be a stomp in its favor. Storm, although I generally like her, bogs the concept down a good bit - I feel like her presence is going to keep the real storyline stars from spreading their wings all the way. That said, MMX, despite having a solid base concept and good roster in a vacuum, they feel really disjointed when put together. Because I have issues with both, I'm defaulting to the lineup of characters that I personally just like better. Eddv vs. Scare The worst thing I can say about Ed's pitch is that I've never been a huge Jubilee fan, because otherwise I love it. I like Scare's supporting cast, some of them quite a bit, but I feel like the pitch as written is going to completely throw them to the wayside in favor of Wolverine/Deadpool odd couple wackiness, which holds little to no appeal for me. Lopen vs. Shaduln I don't know if I really feel like either of these rosters have a ton of chemistry. But for the purposes of this fight I almost feel like Jean and Emma kind of cancel each other out for the most part. If these teams fought ten times, I think Mutant Intent could probably pull out six wins, so I'll go with them. Wicklebee vs. ChichiriMuyo The X-Treme lineup is annoying as all get-out in a fight. MartinFF7 vs. DeathChicken Cohesion is a problem for Martin's team, and it will continue to be so if some changes aren't made, but I think in this instance he's bringing enough pure firepower that it won't matter. Johnbobb vs. IhatethisCPU His argument has even seemingly convinced CPU that he's got the advantage here. And I agree with prof that Darwin is an underrated asset here. Pitch redrocket vs. banananor I'm not in love with either of these, but Rocket X at least feels like it has a clear direction. banananor has the superior lineup, if for no other reason than that Rocket has a couple of really boring big names overshadowing what is ostensibly a solo book, but the pitch is so vague that I can't even really formulate a strong opinion on it. Wicklebee vs. ChichiriMuyo I don't think I can add much commentary to this past what everyone's already said. MartinFF7 vs. DeathChicken I agree with all the criticisms about the Brotherhood, but I'm really not into this Doop concept at all. I think it obscures a lineup with a lot of potential instead of supporting it. I don't feel wild about it, but if I saw these two ideas in book form sitting next to each other on the shelf, I think I'd have enough morbid curiosity to pick up Martin's first. Johnbobb vs. IhatethisCPU Tough matchup in the fight and a tough, tough matchup in the pitch. If CPU had been matched up with almost any other team this round, he'd be the easy winner. | NBIceman 11/20/19 10:54:11 PM #28 | As far as Apocalypse goes in my pitch, the extent of his involvement is essentially just supposed to be that he's the impetus behind its formation and really nothing else. He reaches out to Namor and convinces him of the need for a unit of this kind, puts the wheels in motion for the recruitment of a few of its members, and then divorces himself from it entirely, retreating to his place on the Quiet Council with the understanding that it's really the Sub-Mariner's to do with as he pleases and that, should it ever become advantageous or necessary, he would disavow any knowledge of its very existence. The idea is for this group to be very loosely affiliated and almost completely reactive in their operations. They don't actively seek out missions and, due to the nature of their purpose, it is not required or even expected that all members participate in all matters that may merit their intervention. For his part, though, Namor is charismatic and still self-interested, and I imagine that in the course of the team's life he'd arrange for a job or two that would further Atlantean goals rather than Krakoan or mutantkind in general. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been inclined to be included in the first place. For all intents and purposes, it's his team - he just needed the initial push. If that's even too much interference by an outside character as per the rules, I'll gladly amend my pitch in the following weeks and submit my apologies for misunderstanding the extent to which an extraneous character could be employed. The core basis of that rivalry was that they were trying to prove they were better than each other. But over the years, their motivations changed so much as their characters grew, and their reasons for wanting to be better than the other kept evolving. Tanahashi went from the pure, admirable, undeniable pillar of the company who believed Okada didn't represent NJPW well as champion to a desperate man on the downturn of his career, fighting against the new ace who'd become everything Tanahashi said he couldn't, just to prove that he still had a little bit left in the tank. You don't need anything more than that. I've always been of the opinion that if I want to see drama, I'll watch a drama tv show. If I want comedy, I'll watch a comedy. There's not a single genre wrestling can do better than a good example of that actual genre.
