I went in expecting to enjoy the story and not care for the SRPG gameplay but came out feeling the exact opposite lol. Game is a treat to look at though, and I'd still recommend it to anyone interested.

Yeah started it today and enjoying it way more than I expected. Once I figured out you're suppossed to just stay still and not touch the control stick in close quarters combat it clicked a lot more. Super annoying that the lock on cancels when you dodge though.

I wonder what compelled Nintendo to buy them. Like you said, it's extremely rare for them to purchase companies, so I wonder if there's some hidden politics at play, like NLG tried to negotiate for a much stronger licensing agreement and it was actually cheaper to just buy them.

i read that the major shareholders wanted to sell and Nintendo was willing to buy them because otherwise they'd be bought up elsewhere

I never played the original but I liked it. I agree the battle system was super well done. Although the story completely lost me towards the end. Maybe they expected the player to have played the original, because I had no idea who that talking dog was or basically what the fuck is going on from that point forwards

I was gonna get one eventually anyways, and my PS4 keeps disconnecting from the internet every 5 minutes which makes playing online or downloading things impossible. Figured I might as well take the plunge now.

The first day my PS5 kept trying and failing to download random things without a title/image. Hasn't happened since though

I got a PS5 but I've been playing it more than Demon's Souls and Miles Morales. Considered waiting til March for the PS5 update but I got hooked lol

I think you'll be fine to jump into it. I also kinda got burnt out by the time I got to 4 and never finished but the new RPG gameplay makes it feel fresh and the story is easy to follow and nothing (that I've encountered yet, at least) will really spoil the previous game's stories.

Game is great so far. Hope those 4 hours go by fast lol

Nah 0 is the pinnacle but they're all still pretty good, I'd recommend playing at least Kiwami 1 and 2 afterwards because 2 is another standout and the remake runs in a different engine (along with 6) and plays pretty differently.

Like a Dragon also comes out later this year with a new cast and is a turn based RPG so hopefully that'll turn out well

My shield throw absolutely tore through enemies with this, most fun run I've had yet. Wish I got a chance to fight Charon with this build but the item to trigger the fight hasn't appeared ever since he wrecked my shit the first time lol

What keepsakes are ya'll using? Right now I usually start with the one that gives you extra damage % each chamber for not getting hit since the first floor is easy to rack that up, switch to the one-time coin sum on the second floor, +50 max health for the third because fuck that boss, and then the bonus revive for the 4th floor.

I should probably start using the god-summoning ones more, but I'm kind of dumb about knowing which synergies to go for.

I got one earlier this year and love the joycon colors, even though it's only a matter of time until they start drifting. Glad that more people can get one without having to resort to scalpers, but seems like a bad time to buy a Switch with all the Pro model rumors floating around.

Finished my first complete run with 8 health remaining I have never been so goddamn tense in my life, nor have I experienced such pure bliss as when I landed the finishing blow.

I'm not against going digital in the future, but the majority of my PS4 library is physical so I feel like I gotta get the disc drive for BC reasons. Although physical tends to be cheaper than digital so in the long run I'll probably end up saving money anyways.

The mysteries weren't nearly as exciting or twisty as Ace Attorney and I didn't like how unlike in Ace Attorney, you might not collect enough evidence to win the trial if you don't play optimally on investigation days. I think I remember the dialogue being pretty decent though, but I didn't like the game enough to finish it.

428 Shibuya Scramble is Japanese but it uses actual photos and most importantly, isn't a dating sim. It's really good.
