Cost of living is so cheap in the south there's plenty of people living off social security. They can live dirt cheap in trailor Park homes or multiple families jammed into a small house with minimal expenses because it's a poorly maintained place. That's why there's not as much homelessness.

No one should be flying anything other than southwest tbh.
All these other airlines charge like 200 fees just to change flights. They charge extra for checked bags. Check in 2 bags its an extra $70 bucks.
And I dont remember how good these other airlines' in flight entertainment was but southwest has free whatsapp texting, free movies and live TV.
And american/delta/united all their customer service is trash. Southwest has excellent customer service.

I literally rather drive several hours to an airport that has southwest than drive 5 min to the nearest airport and have to fly any other airlines.

Got a Galaxy 9s+ on release day 3 years ago. Screen is cracked and its just not working as well as it should.

I actually like android better than iPhone. But if iPhone is clear cut better I may switch. I had an iPhone before my samsung, and I had a samsung before my iPhone.

i think real estate is a great investment, you can even hire Property Management Companies if you don't want to deal with most of the stuff.

going into dividend heavy stocks wouldn't be the worst thing.

just doing low cost mutual funds or ETFs is a really safe approach.

having a small fund you put towards high risks stocks can be fun, but don't count that as investing, that's gambling. treat it as such only investing what you can afford to lose.

feel free to put 1-5% of your investments into crypto currency if you want to get on that train.

Theres no other retirement account i can take advantage of right? One those 2 are maxed that's it right?

1. Assume 401k contributions are maxed
2. Assume I don't qualify for roth Ira but I'm doing a backdoor roth and maximizing those contributions
3. I'm making a 529 for kids college with a specific goal in mind. Also considering UGMA.
4. Considering an HSA, how would I estimate how much I should out in there?

Beyond this what more can I do to invest my money?
-real estate?
-simple brokerage account with a diversified portfolio including a variety of index funds, stocks, mutual funds, bonds, etc.
-a gambling brokerage account where I just play with high risk stocks

Is there anything else I should do?

They're all doing okay....decent jobs, some married, some not. I seem to be the only one who is really crushing it.

College honestly weighed me down. I got too caught up in socializing and my work ethic dwindled. I wasn't around like-minded people. In med school I excelled cuz I was around other driven people.

I think my work ethic comes from my dad. Not what he says but his leading by example.

I was a very social guy in college. Life of the party. Everyone wanted to be friends with me. Then I became antisocial. For 9 years now I've been antisocial, never reply to people on social media. Never message anyone.

Now that my medical training is coming to an end, I feel less stress and more social.. I find myself replying to rando friends stories on instagram. I don't feel reserved. And lately it's led to some long conversations. But in a good way.

I've legit seen high 50s lady's that look like high 30s with botox, hair dye, surgery, and being into fitness. You only notice because you see horrible wrinkles on non botox body parts like triceps, arms, hands, etc.

im getting the insanely rare triple raise this year! (next month)

first, the budget cuts from covid are going to be gone (i was being partially paid in vacation time)

then im getting my cost of living raise (not given every year)

and then im getting a performance based raise

in total, that's gonna be about an 18% raise

perfect timing as i'm trying to buy a condo and didn't want to settle for anything less than a penthouse type place and i was right up on the end of that budget. this extra income let's me comfortably do that while still maintaining my life style of vacations and expensive watches

I'm sure you know but it's not the fact that people are looking at it like, hmm Ronaldo drinks coke so in gonna drink coke. It's more that people see Ronaldo and see a positive image that represents the pinnacle of success, and they see coke next to him and those 2 become subconsciously associated so when you see coke at the store next to Pepsi, you'll see that coke in a more positive light and more likely to buy it.

And if you see pogba moving Heineken aside, you'll subconsciously have a negative association with Heineken, based on that time you saw it being rejected by someone who represents high quality performance.

I mean everyone's values are different. If actual living space is the priority and weather and type of people and schools and weather and all those other things are low priority then yea you'd be dumb to live in California.

So a small house in the bay area will be the same as a mansion in Alabama. But you get amazing people around you, amazing food, high quality services of any kind driven by competition. You get amazing weather. You get some of the finest schools in the country for your kids. You can trust that your kids are growing up with other good kids. You also don't deal with alligators, pests, mosquitos. Don't deal with tornados, thunderstorms, hurricanes. If ur not well off you'll get plenty of welfare services available to you in California.

From afar it seems stupid that'd you'd live in California if the cost of living is that high. But once you're here, you realize why it's so amazing and you understand why the price difference exists.

Of course in any capitalistic economy, not everything is priced accurately or fairly. So if someone posts a 2 million dollar shack in SF it's meaningless. I'm talking about averages.

History in schools is a joke too. I didnt know shit about the treatment of indigenous people in canada till well after hs when I stayed learning about it on my own.

And social studies was pretty limited in terms of what it taught about the government and how they function as well.

You dont need to scrap any of those just to add one class about actual useful life skills.

You're acting like the curriculum is just chock full of completely necessary subjects and there's no room for change or improvement.

Just because your school was trash doesn't mean all schools suck at teaching those subjects

Where you learn basic life skills that your parents teach you but not everyone's parents does.

Things like basic car repair, changing a tire, changing oil, basic life support / cpr, basic house repairs, fixing a sink, fixing a toilet. Etc. They could include sex ed in there too. I'm sure we can collectively thing of plenty of things that everyone should know.

Na but those places have shirts that really don't fit well. Like arms will be baggy, waist will be baggy. They don't look good. These off brands made in China or Japan actually fit well.

You can learn tailoring on your own tho, apparently it's not hard. Having someone tailor all of your clothes gets expensive too.

Everything I've ever bought from Amazon has fit amazingly well. Store bought brand name clothes never seem to fit well.

The actual suit might be something I buy from somewhere like suitsupply or somehwee custom made. But you can buy cheap dress shirts and business casual shirts that fit modern day fashion standards... No pockets no back pleats spread collar, high arm holes, single sleeve button, etc.

I was in Texas last week. It's hot, humid, sticky. Weather fucking sucks there. Not to mention thunderstorms every other week and dealing with pests while ur outdoors.

Im in California this week. Man. Perfect mid 70s, sun is out, low humidity, nice breeze. Ugh you can just sit outside and enjoy yourself just staring into space cuz it feels so damn nice. No bugs, pests, or mosquitos.
