You have to know that the term was created during a specific time 20+ years ago when SOTN was popular. And it says nothing about what part of Metroid it's about. Is it the aliens, the shooting, the abilities, the exploration, the platforming? Role Playing Game and Roguelike are similarly nonsensical, and FPS is not as intuitive as it seems as first either. I actually had no idea what Metroidvania meant, despite hearing the term countless times, until like last year when I played Hollow Knight. I never played Metroid or Castlevania growing up, and assumed it was just side scrolling games that are hard or something --- MZero, to the extreme I never saw azuarc coming, but he won the Guru! |

People are able to see the HP of Rotom and Dreadnaw by moving the minimap to check on them. They were likely waiting for it to get low and then went into snipe the final hit. I think his first year as a Laker when he actually got injured for a significant period of time was the sign that we'd seen the best of Lebron because he was seemingly indestructible before then. He managed to pull one out last year, but I wonder if the large break allowed him and AD to recover enough for that playoff run. KD was supposed to be the next guy but he got injured. Kawhi had a shot but the Clippers clippered. Curry was in the mix too but he also got hurt. But yeah generally speaking, you're right - being a lecturer doesn't command nearly the same pay or prestige as being a tenured professor who produces research, so it may not be a "dream" for most career academics (though I've never been one of those anyway). A PhD is necessary for the latter, and that's a huge barrier to entry for many people (many also do prefer teaching to research, despite the enormous pay difference). I had several teachers in community college who left professor positions at prestigious universities because they wanted to focus more on teaching than research.
