Eh, I really do think your mileage may vary a lot, due to breed alone. Ive owned pit bulls before, never mistreated them, did not neglect or anything like that, but (Holy crap!) they loved to fight. They were fine around people, but theyd go shark attack mode and try to attack every animal they saw. This one mottled black and white pit I owned as a teen fought three mixed dogs... at the same time. No fucks to give, in my experience.

Okay so I googled it and I can't find anything definitive, so maybe it's not as commonly known. But yes the grape soda or "purple drank" has long been a stereotype about black American culture. I've even heard it referenced in comedy specials on TV so I know it's not just regional.

Ive never heard of it used other than for the actual Fanta soft drink, so wouldve thought it was maybe a sentimental nickname for someone who liked drinking it a lot. It seems like we should just stay away from its use, considering this recent story.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. But what do you think of the Quake series that followed it? Although Doom did have rudimentary PvP, I think we could argue that Quake basically ran with that and caused the explosion of multiplayer Deathmatch and Capture the Flag type game modes.

I teach middle school and yea after the protests this year, every school district completely dropped whatever current professional development topics we were covering (stuff like how to better engage students via online learning) to shift immediately towards anti-racist pedagogy (as a note, my school is 99% Latino and 1% White lol). They then gave us lessons for our home room period (which meets daily) on racism, intersectionality, privilege, etc.

The science teacher must teach science, the reading teacher must teach reading, and so on. I do not support some half-baked government lesson plan for whichever administration feels they want to lecture on their version of morality. Its flawed because school boards change, admins change and teachers change, so the plan will flip flop in reflection of that. It sounds very religious. Go to this church and the guidance is this way, go to the other church down the street and its something else, go to a mosque and its something else, so none of us can agree with each other anyway.

Just be rational and reasonable and enforce the damn zero tolerance policies on bullying. Those rules either get ignored or they victim blame.

Nah, the Rev 9 Terminator(s) were creepy in a great way, but Robert Patrick was more menacing. Him and Gabriel Luna look sort of similar, but IMO Patrick was good casting as the villain. I remember an old interview where he said he based his performance off a praying mantis, and I think he succeeded. On the other hand, I want to see Luna as a rebel in any new Star Wars project or maybe a hero in a Western.

Yeah, history is wonky like that, although framing it as overall good seems super disrespectful to the millions of victims.

For example, I can trace my birth back to certain events of World War 2. If the war never happened, I would not exist and neither would most of my family. I am glad to be alive and celebrating the New Year, but I recognize its selfish in a way.

When I was in high school and college, I was lean. Couldnt afford much food, so friends and I would split everything. After we all got jobs, we each gained around 20 pounds (10 kg) in the first year. We could finally eat what we wanted and whenever we wanted.

Ive had several friends and many more acquaintances die at fairly young ages, and of course it sucks. But my Dad said he rarely bumps into his friends and old coworkers in public now, so he thinks a lot of them are either always sick or just flat-out died.
