You can't really say flat out HP is a better stat than DEF or RES. DEF or RES give you better returns if

- You expect to be doubled a non-negligible amount of the time
- You expect to use a skill fueled by DEF or RES, of which there are significantly more than HP, and generally get better returns than HP for not having the 'most'

In general I'd rather tank a low defensive stat than HP, but if both defensive stats are decent it's definitely not a cut and dry decision and will depend on the other stats and skills that work with the unit. Though I do agree people undervalue HP somewhat.

I'd sooner say CV3 replaces CV1 than SCV4 replaces it.

Like aside from the fact that your character is named Trevor instead of Simon it plays and feels a lot more similar to CV1 than SCV4 does.

To be clear I don't think it's any good but it's a clear tier above. Like I have to focus in on the eyes-- just glancing through my character list past Florina I don't get a sense of revulsion from the art (beyond it being Florina) nor do I even get a "that's not Florina."

Second tier from the bottom sure I'll accept but deffo clearly better than Lloyd.

hmm, you may have a point, but it only applies to games where the goal is to eliminate every other player, and you only get one action per turn

I guess if your point is it's impossible to create a whammy turn to eliminate every opponent at once to win, yeah I guess that matters. You could maybe fix that with certain role cards too.

But you have the dynamic of king slaying in a lot of games. I think it's really only a flaw if the games are really long and it's likely one person is going to be sitting a long time in the typical play pattern of a game. Otherwise it's just something you accept and play around.

Yeah Grima would be an auto draw for if that art weren't so bad. Especially since I'm not sure when I'll be able to make a dragon emblem team without him. I like Adult Tiki and to a lesser extent Ninian (almost entirely because the art and VA are great in this game-- wasn't exactly fond in FE7), and Myrrh is fine, but the rest of them are awful. It's probably the worst art in the game and that includes Lloyd. (not even sure why Florina is being mentioned on that bottom tier btw)

Any multiplayer free for all game with any sort of diplomatic element and a victory condition where only one person can win is going to have that "glitch." I've yet to play any game where that wasn't the case unless the game was heavily RNG based or there wasn't a mechanic to screw other players directly in the rules. I don't think you can or even should remove that aspect without fundamentally changing what the game is.

Cloud BSB
Sora BSB
Riku LMR

Honestly pretty decent draw if I'm only going to do one. Only improvement to make would be swapping that Riku LMR (which isn't going to be useful with no Riku relics) for a Sora or Cloud LMR. Just glad I didn't get stuff like the three Sora Glints which aren't useful unless I plan to invest in Sora.

You're supposed to get a flat reward of MC Lodes, EXP Eggs, Major Orbs, and Mythril based on number of dungeons completed to (partially) compensate for this. Who knows when that's rolling out, in game announcement is unclear, but yeah that's why people were targeting specific dungeon completion breakpoints, to maximize the flat reward while still getting as many of the better rewards as possible.

Think you're underrating it on Berserkers, particularly if they're used on a team that doesn't have Archers or Riders (or better, a team that's heavy on Casters). Like yeah you won't absorb ALL THE STARS like you will with others but you'll get a non 0 amount of them pretty reliably which will help damage. Berserkers also typically have issues with NP Gen so starting at 50 is better for them.

That being said I do think a Caster you want to crit a lot is where it shines.

Well, the big issue here is I think you're using a different definition of artificial difficulty than one I'd associate with filler-- and that was probably my fault for saying 'artificially increasing the difficulty' when that isn't really an accurate way to say what I was getting at. But either way it has everything to do with what you're saying because you're saying "losing progress after a game over = filler" when I would say it's generally not unless the stuff you're repeating is truly 100% trivial, which I would not say is the case in Adventures of Link. The game generally gives you shortcuts through the trivial stuff and the meat of your penalty is assessed on losing progress in the dungeon you died in, which is completely fine since the game wants you to be able to consistently do everything in the dungeon rather than being able to fluke through each individual room piecemeal.

Being able to withstand attrition of many lesser challenges isn't a lesser type of difficulty than being able to withstand something with a super hard execution level. It's just a different kind.

Anyway looking at them My Teacher and I seems to have by far the most general use. Seems like a CE that a lot of Berserkers or Casters could enjoy quite a bit. Kiss Your Hand seems like it'd generally be outclassed by the single type +25%s, and Versus is too situational I think.

It's not really the same thing though.

Like bumbling around on the Lon Lon Farm or Kokiri Village or running across vast open plains or with nothing of interest or whatever else are not segments of the game I find interesting in any play through, and they're unavoidable.

Game Over penalty is mostly used as a tool to make you successfully do longer stretches of the game in one go through. And what's more they're completely avoidable with more skill.

Game Overs aren't really filler on the content level as much as artificially increasing the difficulty level. But in some ways that kind of difficulty can be more satisfying. I'd rather play a game like Ninja Gaiden where you have to do a long stretch without a lot of blunders than say I Wanna Be The Guy where you have to do super hard segments in very very bite sized pieces.

I mean by your logic, even ignoring the issue of checkpoints, having a hard boss that takes you like 50 tries would be "filler" because you spend 49 tries on the same content, artificially increasing the length of the game.

AoL has a lives system that sends you back to the starting screen and forces you to go back through parts of the game you've already beaten. That's, like, the purest form of filler.

Well, I'm not one of those people who thinks we should have checkpoints on every screen so you don't need to replay anything. I think failure having a price is a good thing, and if you play the game without getting Game Over there's no filler, which is more important.

That being said I will admit Adventure of Link's enforcement of it is a lot more dumb than other games of the time like say Ninja Gaiden which makes you redo a hard stretch of the game when you fail to beat the boss-- since the strong majority of the stuff you're going through to get back to the final dungeon is just a waste of time. On the other hand it doesn't really take long at all either because there are a lot of shortcuts to use so it kinda acknowledges this. Overall it's only really a problem with the final dungeon since most of the other things have more direct routes, but even then it takes just a few minutes

I can't speak for Skyward Sword as I haven't played any of the games since Twilight Princess but I would say for example Ocarina of Time has its fair share of filler compared to say Link to the Past or Adventure of Link. The early game in particular goes way the hell slower than it needs to almost entirely for the sake of making the game longer imo.

I don't actually have Sanaki. I do have Lancina which is a pretty similar idea but on the other hand she's an infantry and I'd rather avoid putting it on infantry since that's my most used unit type-- I feel like it would be a burden to build teams with an Infantry unit with Atk Tactic. I also kinda think a flier is best because you can more freely move them and they can have guidance.

Hinoka is a probably the objectively best choice for it of fliers I have but it feels like a waste of her Hone Fliers and Hinoka as a character isn't one I'm going to be using a ton either.

I also failed to get Celica with about 100 orbs. Think that'll be it for me though I only like the design so much.

Got combo broken with Siegbert at 4%. Might actually be the better draw overall. Atk Tactic seems pretty awesome. I'm thinking I want to put it on Valter since I'm usually running him with mixed compositions anyway. Seems like a waste of his Panic Ploy 3 but his stat spread kinda wastes that anyway.

Maybe Cherche instead but I like Valter more.
