Angelica is amazing. She’s a hilarious character and always good at bringing some much needed humour to a situation. As a waifu however… that’s a no. She’s decently attractive of course, but she’s 100% a lesbian. I don’t care what anyone else thinks, “oh she danced with george she’s actually straight-” NO. She’s gay as get out, and that’s enough reason to see why it wouldn’t work out. Personality wise, she’s a total lech towards cute girls, constantly teasing Alisa, calling Fie, Elise and Alfin her Fabulous Fifteens, etc etc. She’s an accomplished martial artist in the Taito style, and she can even carry over that talent to giant robot fights. A+ character, D- waifu.

Ferris is basically your textbook definition of a stuck-up noble at the beginning of the game. Whether it’s foisting extra work on Alisa because she doesn’t want to work hard, or acting like a general priss, she has annoying down to a science. It isn’t until later bonding events and sidequests that she develops a healthy rivalry with Alisa and ends up being more tsundere about her actions instead of full tsun. She’s sort of cute, and being the daughter of a noble household is a nice perk, but she’s too stuck up for me.

Erika Russell is a full on Mama Bear. She loves two things in this world, her daughter Tita, and pushing the boundaries of science! She’s the kind of person who goes where her impulses take her, whether it’s developing a new orbal gear, or flying over state boundaries on a new invention without getting the proper permits, Erika does as she pleases. She’s one of the greatest scientific minds in Liberl, and perhaps in the entire continent that isn’t on the Ouroboros bankroll. She’s very concerned about Tita’s crush on Agate Crosner, and may or may not want to bury him in a shallow grave for getting too close to her precious daughter. Which is part of the reason why I have her so low on my list… since if she knew I had Tita anywhere on this list… whoo boy, RIP me.

From one maid to another, Sariffa is the personal maid of the Florald family, tasked to keep a close eye on Vincent and Ferris to keep them safe and secure. She’s capable in combat as well, fighting the party in ToCS2 during the Thors Academy Liberation chapter. There isn’t much more to her than that, other than she has a little bit of a snarky side as well that seems to come up when dealing with a pair of stuck up nobles like Ferris and Vincent. She’s just kind of boring to me is all.

Hilda is the head maid of Grancel Castle, filled with wisdom, experience and craftiness. If there’s anything happening in the castle, she knows what’s going on. Hilda is a bit older than my strike range, but she seems smart, reliable, and knows how to throw her authority around when she needs to. She’s a little bit intimidating, but she’s not a bad person in the slightest, evidenced by when she helped Estelle and Joshua sneak past the guards to meet the queen in secret.

Ein Selnate, The First Dominion of the Gralsritter, and the person the story Carnelia was based upon. Ein is a very handsome woman. I wouldn’t say beautiful, but she’s handsome like a lesbian in a shoujo manga is handsome. She’s the leader of what is effectively the Church’s army, and is theorized to be the most powerful person in the series, or at least really damn close. Most of her backstory and information that we know of is in Third Chapter, but she’s still hiding a lot of secrets. I think she’s really cool, but I’m not attracted to her in the slightest.

Luciola, the Bewitching Bell, Enforcer Number 6. So I’m sure there’s the “but she’s hot!” crowd, but I mean, it doesn’t really do anything for me. Her detached sleeves are cool but her entire outfit is a mess and I don’t think I could date a girl with a worse fashion sense than me. Then there’s the fact that she killed the leader of the Harvey Circus Troupe just because he was gonna bail on some debt collectors and didn’t return her affections for him. That’s uh… creepy yandere territory. Nice tracts of land will only get you so far, Lucy is a no for me. As a cool aside though, she does make an appearance in Ao no Kiseki as a mysterious fortune teller, and gives you Zemurian Ore if you give her all the copies of the book Sunny Agnes. Still not a good waifu though.

We start off the next tier with some ladies who aren't absolute no’s, but have various things that keep me from being interested in them. Friedel is one of the students at Thors Military Academy, and is head of the Fencing Club there. She’s an accomplished swordsman on the level of Laura, if not stronger (she shouldn’t be, but Class 7 has a weird competence arc). She’s wholly devoted to her swordsmanship, and seems to have a devil may care attitude towards everything else. She’s kind of boring and kind of frightening, even if she looks non-offensive. That’s a no for me.

The Queen of Liberl is the next to fall. I have nothing against her personally, she’s wise, clever and patient. If she was even 20 years younger, she’d be the ideal woman hahaha. She has a lot of burden placed on her shoulders, due to being a small nation’s monarch trapped between two larger ones who are always at odds with each other. Despite this, she navigates the stormy political waters and introduced a non-aggression pact to try and settle both Calvard and Erebonia down. She always puts her citizens first, even though those actions do sometimes hurt others. She helped to cover up the incident of Hamel in order to stop the hundred days war. She seems to be raising Kloe into a wise queen to take up her mantle. I think she’s a hell of a woman, just not the waifu for me.

And the last of the oh god no’s is here. Beatrix falls into the same camp as Queen Alicia, being a wonderful woman who is just older than my strike range. She’s the school nurse at Thors, and despite her age, probably the biggest badass on the faculty staff. She was formerly a combat medic in the Erebonian Military, living by the pledge to save as many lives as possible, earning the sobriquet “The Reviver”. She’s pretty cool, and is also an optional boss fight in Cold Steel 2, fighting alongside Principal Vandyck. She’s basically Ana from Overwatch, but slightly less anime.

From the very young and very plot relevant, to the older and very much less plot-relevant. Elsa is Calvard’s ambassador in Liberl. She’s a very good friend with the current president Samuel Rocksmith, and she’s on rocky terms with the Erebonian ambassador in Liberl. There’s not too much to say about her. She’s older than I’d like, and the hairstyle and glasses just reminds me of a certain terrible teacher I had in my school days. She’s very outspoken and married to her work, I don’t think we’d get along at all.

KeA is just a walking talking spoiler if I go into any sort of detail about her. That’s it, that’s my warning. The short version is she’s 9 years old and I’m not a lolicon. If you want to know anymore about her, I’ve given fair warning. Multiple even.

KeA is a sweet little girl who is affectionate and kind to everyone she meets. She’s nearly universally loved thanks to her cute interactions and great big smile. She’s adopted by the SSS after appearing in an auction for various black market goods. Despite being a black market auction run by the mafia, slavery was never in the plans for the conspirators behind the auction, and she ended up in a trunk instead of a rare Rosenburg Doll that was supposed to be there. Her greater purpose is to be an Artificial Sept-Terrion, created by the Crois family and made to replace the missing Sept-Terrion of Mirage, which vanished due to the burden of controlling causality. Her existence is the catalyst for the entire Crossbell plot, and in terms of power, she’s the strongest being we know of. Even more than Loewe, or Cassius, or even Arianrhod or Ein. She can change reality as you know it, a sort of super Sept-Terrion with dominion over Mirage, Space and Time.

Shizuku is the daughter of Arios MacLaine, the big deal bracer of the crossbell setting. She’s 9 years old, which is an immediate no, but I may as well elaborate on the character some more. Shizuku was blinded at the age of 4 in a tragic accident that took her mother’s life. This event caused her father to quit the police force and become a bracer. Arios worked like a man possessed to create a miracle and try to get her eyesight back, spending most of his earnings to make sure she had access to the best possible medical care and surgery available. She's very kind, sweet and reserved, and has learned to tell people apart by the sounds of their footsteps. She might grow into a beautiful woman with age, her dad looks pretty good after all, but for now, it's a definite no.

Let’s keep the playable character train rolling! Renne is a former ouroboros enforcer, causing no end of trouble for Estelle and her gang, between the tea party in chapter 3, and the threat of the Pater-Mater, Renne is one of the more dangerous enforcers around. She’s highly intelligent and in the crossbell games she’s also a skilled hacker with the Orbal Net as well. She’s a highly capable girl, but the big downside is that she’s 11 years old in Sky, aging up to 13 by Zero, but that’s still really young. She might grow into an impressive woman when she’s older, but she’s still a child, and still talks like a child (speaking in the third person constantly). I like her character, and she has one of the most heartwarming arcs in the series, but I don’t see her as a waifu at all.

Don’t lewd the lolis, etc. Anyway, she’s an experiment created by Osbourne for… some nefarious purpose, we have no idea what his endgame is after all. She’s part of the imperial intelligence division which would surprise you since she has a big problem keeping her mouth shut about confidential information. Anyway, she’s pretty annoying, really young, and just not a good waifu candidate. She’s funny as fuck though.

In any case, she’s your requisite creepy student at Thors, and her purpose in Cold Steel 2 is to confirm your relationship points to make sure you’re on track get the final bonding events you want. She’s at least useful for that, but that’s nothing a guide wouldn’t tell you already. :P

The Aide-de-Camp of Colonel Richard, Kanone’s basic traits are that she’s catty and she’s obsessed with Colonel Richard. She’s an extremist, she easily takes things way too far and she’s easily manipulated thanks to her glaring weak point of “gotta save Richard”. She gives you no shortage of headaches in the Sky games. She’s also a little bit of a sadist, which… really doesn’t matter to me all that much, I just find her annoying and weird looking. And normally I like a girl in uniform too… Shame that.

She’s a very one note character, her best attribute being that she can make EX Orbs for Valimar so you can fight better in the scripted divine knight fights. Other than that, she’s just not very attractive, so I can’t work with that. Next!

Irina holds some basic similarities to Mariabell, she’s rich, blonde and in a position of power when it comes to the world over all, seizing the reins of the Reinford company from her father. The only positive note about her is that she does love her family, she just does a really terrible job of showing it, like a supreme tsundere except you only see the dere off screen. She’s one of the directors of the board for Thors Military Academy so she has an important role in the stories of both Cold Steel 1 and 2. I’m not a big fan of her overall looks, her treatment of her daughter could be considered cruel by people and maybe hits a little too close to home, and she just seems like she wouldn’t give a fuck about a relationship since she’s married to her work.

Mariabell is certainly a much better looking woman than some of the next people coming up, but she falls this far for a very specific reason, and that’s her god awful personality. She seems like a somewhat reasonable sort of person, if a little bit overprotective of Elie, but her actions take a much larger turn when you discover the truth about her alignment and how long she’s been working on her conspiracy. She has a bloated ego, only believes in herself, is selfish, spoiled, and worst of all, she kidnapped KeA and gaslighted her to join her side. She’s a total bitch through and through, and one I could never love.

As an albertan I can agree with most of these, but I do use Grades and Marks pretty interchangeably. The Cabin/Cottage/Camp thing to me depends on the location of the getaway. If it's in the woods it's a cabin, if it's on the lake or the ocean it's a cottage.

Here I am, back at my bullshit once again. Last year I did a general topic with nominations from various users here, but this time I'm trying something different. After just beating Ao no Kiseki last night I figured it'd be a good time to start this up. Especially since Cold Steel 3 is looming on the horizon.
