I wanted to do a big writeup but I find myself agreeing with most of your points.

I really do feel a sense of loss now, this was the true good bye to Ellie and Joel and it's very bittersweet, with a small hope for the future.

Pacing issues really hurt this game most of all, after the backlash from the leaks. This would have had to have been near perfect in its execution to surpass the first game. TLOU was a generic setting with familiar beats that was executed in a very good way, while this did try something new with its story formula and beats but didn't achieve everything it set out to do.

The vfx industry is very different than any other.

It's also a very small one, people know almost everyone because it's contractual work based and you can travel all over the world and work in so many places in just one year.

Whatever strategy for getting ahead in any other workplace won't fly here. These are people who work 100 hour weeks because they love the work, not because they have to support themselves, so any person who acts like a dick will be kicked.

The biggest thing vfx/game companies look for is your attitude. If you're a decent person who admits mistakes and is always willing to learn, but you're just an ok artist, they will hire you over someone with fantastic art who is difficult to work with every time.

There's animation, concept art, rigging, modelling, mocap/layout, production, technical directors, designers, ui design, writers, IT, sound design, testing, QA etc and so much more.

If you're good at organisation and can keep track of people and jobs production manager is one of the most useful jobs.

One of the worst parts about this game imo is the lack of replayability.

Unless you're going for a no death run or trying a harder difficulty I don't see a reason to play through the story again, and there's noultiplayer which Uncharted 4 at least had.

I might lend it to some friends, but will probably trade it in at a later date for a different game, unless I feel the itch to play it again.

Extra credits did a vid on why Infinite was not that great.

Way too many gunfights, not enough exploration. It treated Columbia not like a city with civilians and a cult like leader, but a madhouse with crazy people like Rapture so you could kill everyone.

A lot of the issues stem from pacing and how they decided to put the flashbacks/character switches.

Tbh I think the game could have ended at the farmhouse with Ellie contemplating going after Abby, but I guess it works now. Both characters went so far for revenge they were completely broken by the end. Ellie had a second chance with a family but she threw that away because of her guilt for not making up with Joel.

After thinking about the ending, I'm liking it more and it really feels bittersweet. At least with the first you knew Naughty Dog would want to make a sequel, here is feels like a goodbye to the characters, especially after their lives really got fucked up and a small hope for the future.

I hope Ellie reaches Jackson and gets back together with Dina, and they live to a ripe old age.

Probably the best moments were the flashback scenes.

The museum sequence was my favourite. Ellie making faces in front of the mirror with Joel chuckling behind her was just the first game encapsulated in one moment.

I think if the game ended in the farm with Dina it would have been better, and ambiguous.

Does Ellie go after Abby? Will she ever heal? Do Abby and Lev survive and meet the fireflies?

I do feel that it isn't executed as well as the first game, overall it'd be a 7 to 7.5 for me.

There are bits and pieces that can be swapped around, added earlier or pushed later and just some fat trimming to really push it to be as good as the first game.

But it definitely is not godawful or terrible and some of the criticism just falls flat.

Sadly, the infected just felt obligatory in this game, just because they were there in the first one. I'd have made them rarer than they were and more contained just to give the feeling of the world finally getting back on track.

It was actually pretty great. I feel like a lot of negative reactions were coloured by the leaks and people making dumb memes.

When the timeskip happened with the baby and the farmhouse I was afraid it was a dream by Ellie but surprised the game kept going.

Happy that Tommy survived.

That last flashback with Joel got me choked up, both of them were starting to make up then he gets killed.
