Please excuse my ignorance, but what's "sapphic oriented"?

I mean i can guess by context, but i've never seen that term before

A space for women who love women. Sometimes the term is preferred for more inclusive spaces for those that welcome nonbinary lesbians and bisexual women. Generally, I find these places are standard although what terminology they prefer is a bit varied

One of the things I find so frustrating about TERFs is how they seem to think the idea of trans women being acceptable within the lesbian community is somehow novel when lesbians have had a long history of accepting a variety of gender identities and non-cis women. There is a reason why lesbians tend to be the most accepting group of trans women despite what the media likes to portray.

So I'm a trans woman and recently a sapphic oriented board got invaded by a hate group because two trans women posted pictures of themselves outside having a good day together.

For the most part they just made the job of the mods miserable as they had to block all these people but eventually they broadened their harassment started attacking people through DMs and in other boards.

Received quite a few dick pics, really hateful comments in my posts and even weeks later, if I make a message on a private board, I risk these people saying pretty hateful shit to me.

I just needed to vent really. It gets tiring

Texas child prisons are notoriously awful and even worse then the adult prisons with prison guards consistently being found to be child predators. Remember that cash for kids scandal? Pretty sure that was Texas too.

This topic is about burgers but good call, other food cultures can be gross too and I wouldn't eat any one of those dishes.

In Canada it's very simple. You just order a burger. They don't ask you how you want it done because that's an asinine question, the same way they wouldn't ask you how you wanted your chicken done.

That is a take. I might not live there, but I've been there and I've seen people ask for their food to be done to different temperatures before so idk exactly your issue was. You act like you are on a different planet or something

Nothing funny to add really. One of the things that coincided with the end of the "golden age of capitalism" was when stock buybacks stopped being considered market manipulation (thank you Reagan) since then they have become just a regular part of doing business. Just giving yourself more money is legal I guess if you are rich enough and control a big enough corporation.

LSGW_Zephyra
04/23/24 10:48:48 AM

The topic says it all. Increased demand for worker productivity increases stress and anxiety which increases blood pressure which leads to heart attacks and heart related issues.

I've known jobs that literally work people to death, that saw even their management team as expendable that they could replace. I cannot count the number of people at my last job that drank their stress away but I can tell you the number of people who died as a result of a heart attack in the five years I worked there: 6. But heart issues, heart attacks are not logged as work related deaths in the same way we track cancer related deaths because we don't think of them as being caused by the businesses themselves.

It's only when companies do shitty things on top of that does it penetrate the zeitgeist. That last company, after the death of their employee, refused to pay out his overtime and was the subject to a massive class action lawsuit. They lost but the business kept on keeping on. While overtime is now paid, the reason for this person's death was never addressed.

Every business I've ever worked at is obsessed about productivity, and it is literally killing people.

I can't count how many times I've heard this story: Gets hired for a new job, shows up for orientation, everything is ok, Day 1 they learn their job is not what they signed up for, their equipment is inadequate and their expectations are ludicrous.

Companies lie all the damn time to get people to come work dangerous or inadequately staffed positions and then throw them away if they don't meet their standards in an instant. Meanwhile, a person has to quit their previous job with the promise of an increased standard of living only to realize that they are now stuck in their new abusive job until they find a better one.

Companies leverage their monopoly on wealth to ensure that individuals are reliant on them and cannot easily escape. It's literally abuse. If an individual did this, it would be a crime. It is a crime. You can't just lie to people under false pretenses to manipulate them to do what you want but businesses can just do that because that's how absolutely fucked the system is.

I've been reading a lot into trans sports ban lately and the more I do the less I feel like it has anything to do with "fairness". The more time passes by, the more research done, the more support that trans women don't have any significant advantages over cis women the results seem to suggest

https://www.outsports.com/2024/4/12/24091267/transgender-athletes-study-research-science-sports-governing-bodies/

But then you come across things like... banning trans women from playing chess or darts or fishing or fake wrestling and... it's all transphobia. It always has been.

They don't work in our industry. They're not a professional in any of the things that we do, nor do they have any of the contextual experience to understand our problems. In fact they have no expertise in any field at all, actually.

But we're paying this person a lot of fucking money to look at our company and fix it. Everyone tell the consultant what you do for a living.

That's because consultants are good at one thing: making line go up.

They don't have to know anything about your business, they just need to know business.
