South Koreans know who Hitler and the Nazis were. They learn about WW2 in early middle school.

Hitler and the Nazis are also not well-liked here. During that time, Korea was occupied and dealing with Japanese atrocities. Hitler being allied with them at that time (plus the Holocaust is taught in their textbooks) means I'm never seeing my students even attempt edgy Hitler or Nazi jokes.

Well, you don't need permission to record a cover.

The good news is that Chapman owns the songwriting and publishing rights, so she'll be getting the money. Plus profiting from more plays of her recording and back catalogue.

This. And she came out supporting Luke Combs' cover.

Make sure you have adapters with proper voltage. Ask any Facebook or Reddit groups that cater to the local foreigners for a good computer repair place. That is, if you bring over any electronics/computers.

You don't necessarily need to cancel your Netflix and Prime. When you get to your new country and set up a bank account, you can probably get an international debit card you can use to continue your subscriptions.

Get vacuum clothing bags. Shove a bunch of your clothing in them and just suck the air out. It will save a ton on space. Sizes may vary considerably so it's nice to have stuff you know that fits you. It's better to have too much than not enough.

Find out your country's license laws and how they compare to the country you are moving to. Some countries will let you straight up exchange your home country's license for a domestic one. I'm from the US and when I moved to Korea, I just had to give them some certified documents from the US plus my license and boom, I was licensed to drive in Korea.

I mean, the truck had been retconned from a 90's truck to an 80's truck. That's more of an issue.

Hank buying five cars from the dealer is easily explainable in that he could have had another vehicle along with the truck.

He was frugal enough in the rest of his life to have been able to afford it.

You deleted your post asking for examples of teachers and students who have protected people from school shootings and sacrificed themselves during school shootings.

But yes. Any survivors of school shootings talk about teachers who corralled them into safety. Or they talk about their friends who shield people only to get shot.

It's not something so unique where specifics need to be shown. It happens every time there is a school shooting.

Exactly, I said jokes, as in comedy. Im offended as a comedian is a joke because if that was really the case then hed be saying anyone can tell any joke. Cranston is telling very inoffensive jokes and yet its still too far.

It's more layered than that.

  1. They aren't as "offensive" as we might think of today because they were a broadcast show.
  2. Multiple times, Watley is shown to not really care about the Jewish diaspora. Or to act nonchalantly about it.
  3. That's the crux of the argument. If you are going to become Jewish and tell Jewish jokes, Jerry feels it should be coming from a good place. And he doesn't think Watley's conversion is honest.
  4. It's all low-hanging fruit/bad jokes, which is more of an issue for Jerry. The joke is that he's trying to be protective of his faith and come across as the good guy, but in reality, he's just gatekeeping comedy, which is the long-standing joke of him and the other three being self-absorbed narcissists.
I mean I saw a clip of Seinfeld and Ricky Gervais where Ricky was making some Jewish/Holocaust jokes and Seinfeld had to stop and compose himself because he was laughing so hard. He even complimented Gervais on how deep the levels go with the jokes.

It was a show where the audacity of the skits was the entire joke. People liked it because "omg they really said that"

Going back and watching it now as a 40-year-old, Chapelle Show is honestly garbage. So much of it is just edgy for the sake of edgy, with no actual jokes. That whole "N***** Family" thing is a prime example. There weren't any jokes in that skit, just people saying the n-word over and over.

The whole point of that sketch was to juxtapose the idyllic 50's portrayal the baby boomers had with the racist beliefs of the time.

The overarching joke was them being so flippant with the n-word pun (including the shock and horror of that dude's daughter dating the N-word son) that showed how the baby boomers wet dream of post-WW2 wasn't so whitewashed. The fact it was delivered in the same manner as tv shows at the time is the joke. Not just repeating the n-word.

The difference between Chapelle's Show and his recent stuff is multifaceted:

His show was taking aim at everyone possible. Obviously there were more black and white jokes but everyone was getting something. But the jokes also seemed to come from a place of love in a way. A good amount of those bigotry jokes didn't have the target group being the butt of the joke. It was the people that actually think that way that were the real targets. It's what made that show so deep and hilarious.

Most of his stuff now is just "woe-is-me" bullshit and piss poor attempts at jokes. It hasn't always been like that though. Even his first come-back specials were great.

I don't think I've done this, but I have always wanted to just drag those people for a face-to-face with my mom and have them tell her she's not my real mother.

She's been doing this for about 50 years. And instead of actively helping out with these issues (donating time or money, sharing tips/advice/hotlines/resources for people, etc..) these people want to react violently to a woman's work.

None of these people actually care about the actual crimes so long as they don't have to see it. Out of sight, out of mind.

See, I read it more as "Just because your child shows interest in *thing* (he used to 'feel pretty') doesn't mean you need to full send them into the culture surrounding the thing". If his parents had heard he 'felt pretty' and assumed he wanted to be/look like a girl, that would've been the rash decision he talks about.

I read it more as being concerned that well-meaning parents ('glad my parents didn't make rash decisions') will push their child into a culture or lifestyle instead of letting their child be a child.

Obviously if your child has shown repeated patterns of (dis)interest in something or has outright stated "I (don't) feel like X or Y" then you should listen to that.

Dee's comments aren't irrational and I don't think they're inherently harmful. Saying parents shouldn't make rash decisions is fair.

You could literally say the same thing to parents who knee-jerk against their child showing any interest in opposite gender stuff. Tell them to not be rash (because the overbearing response could manifest what the parents fear).

This is how I read it too.
