A one-time incompetent ally was taken out. Hardly the critical driver of plot for something she spent a lot of time training for and which essentially promptly disappeared afterwards. It'd be like a lite version of the dragons showing up, torching one city or army, and then promptly disappearing for the rest of the show.

Twilight Princess was the best selling-game of the series until the OoT remaster got released and BotW in actuality. Even if it was less-liked than previous installments, it was extremely successful for Nintendo.

Skyward Sword was a letdown, but I don't remotely think anyone of note was seriously prognosticating the impending doom of the series.

I had friends that spent a semester in Japan back in college, and they all agreed that being a moderately attractive white dude with any form of social skills is like playing on easy mode when it came to landing women. Endgame was fun and had a very satisfying final hour especially, but I think that infinity War was just better, tighter from a narrative focus, and more able to stand on its own as a film rather than relying on earlier installments (and nostalgia) to drive the overall plot.
