I am just going to say, I think Joel was right to do what he did.

First of all, yes, the existence of a cure would be overall beneficial to humanity. It sucks it won't get made (yet).

But should the Fireflies be responsible for it and control who gets it? No.

The Fireflies are essentially a terrorist group. They aren't good people. They bomb places and kill innocents. The cure in their hands would only give them power, and you can bet they would be selective as to who would actually get it.

And they were being so fucking shady. They didn't give Joel or Ellie a choice, they were just going to kill her and forced Joel to leave at gunpoint. It would have been much different had they talked to Ellie and she made her own choice and was given the chance to say goodbye to Joel. They forced the situation.

It's a very gray area. But I think Joel was right to do as he did. Fuck the Fireflies.

Um. Yes it would. The trick is landing it on him. His spirit won't die while he has horcruxes, but you can destroy his body.

Like, okay, for Joker he pays you. But then, he is just as likely to murder you and your whole family if you make a mistake.

Same with Voldemort. Sure he is strong. But hit him with a killing curse when his back is turned.

Palpatine would be tricky, with all that force sensitivity crap, but he isn't completely omniscient. No one is.

But why would anyone swear loyalty to them? They are as much of a threat to you as they are to anyone else. I would be looking for a way to get rid of them myself if I was forced into that life.

For all we know, Grindelwald wasn't willing to hurt Dumbledore, and Dumbledore took advantage and disarmed him. The books made it clear the disarming someone was all it takes to earn a wands loyalty.

Everyone bringing up the Grindelwald stuff glosses over this post.

The book even implied that there may not have been a duel at all.

Ever since the series ended, something hasn't really sit right with me about Dumbledore.

Was he really a top tier powerful wizard, or was it his wand?

The existence of the elder wand kinda changes how I used to view the character. It's easy to be powerful if you have a hax weapon. Like in a video game, anyone can be the strongest if the scales are unbalanced in terms of gear.

Would he have still been able to fight off Voldemort without it? Was Riddle truly the strongest wizard of all?

Dumbledore was obviously smart and clever and had a lot of magical knowledge. That isn't what's up for debate. I am speculating purely on his actual power level.

His brother never amounted to more than a barman. So clearly the power isn't some blood thing.

10,000 rats. That's a fucking lot. Well more than enough to overwhelm everything else. No hunter can shoot them all, and when they swarm something, they are fucking vicious. They can also get pretty big.

Go play Plague Tale to get an idea what a few hundred rats can do. And this is 10,000. They completely fucked up by adding that imbalance to the scale.
