The 2.5D is more than just a graphical style, but a factor in level design.

What I mean is that in most 2.5D games, the 3D is just a graphical style; everything you have to worry about is on a 2D plane. But in Tropical Freeze, obstacles come out of the background and into the "field of play," so to speak. And in a lot of cases, mostly cannon sections so far, the plane of movement itself gets shifted.

It's really cool. The one thing I can think of that worked similarly is the Banzai Bills in Super Mario Maker 2's 3D World style, but that's just one enemy rather than a recurring design ethos.

Yes, in that you play as Yoshi, eat enemies, throw eggs, and there are a lot of collectibles in each level for you to find. There's no Baby Mario; Yoshi just has a health bar, and the game is pretty easy on the whole.

Oh I was fine, a little embarrassed, but it wasn't too hard a fall for me I thought. Haven't seen any other issues with the Switch; it plays fine, but it's an annoyance when I hit the - button.
