A Pennsylvania man who hosts an anti-government podcast called the Alt-Right Armory, on which he has encouraged listeners to target not only police, but legislators, lobbyists, and left-wing billionaires for assassination with explosives, is accused of having amassed an arsenal of fully automatic machine guns, according to court filings.

Joseph Paul Berger, a 32-year-old Navy veteran who lives with his parents in Bethlehem Township, was arrested Feb. 7 by federal agents who say they found 13 unregistered machine guns and 12 illegal silencers in a locked room in the basement of the familys home. The cache included, among other models, eight AK-style rifles, two C308 .308 Winchester caliber rifles, two MP5K submachine guns, and one RPK-style machine gun, according to a detention memo filed by prosecutors.

The weapons were test-fired by a lab expert with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), who determined that each gun was modified, after purchase, to make it capable of fully automatic fire, the filing says.

Bergers father, Joseph Raymond Berger, 67, was arrested along with his son. The two stored the guns in a locked basement room to which only they had access, according to prosecutors. Their lawyer, Eric E. Winter, did not respond to The Daily Beasts request for comment, and no one answered the phone at the Berger home on Friday.

The younger Berger, who works as a certified armorer and machinist and does not have a criminal record, regularly espouses anti-government and anti-law enforcement views, the government argued in a motion against releasing Berger on bail. For example, in the pilot episode of the Alt-Right Armory the defendant notes that a white man with a rifle can be very dangerous to the system indeed if he has the right motivation. He then extolls the values of police murderer Eric Frein and fantasizes about the cost that could be incurred by a group of people like Frein, the motion continues, emphasizing that Frein in 2014 murdered a Pennsylvania state trooper in an ambush before going on the run. He was subsequently captured, convicted, and sentenced to death.

Berger and his co-host halfheartedly claim that the discussion is a prank and a playful thought, and they are not advocating for violence, but it is clear that the discussions are serious, the filing states.

On his show, prosecutors pointed out, Berger goes by the moniker GlockDoctor1488, which begins with what appears to be a nod to the 14-word slogan used by neo-Nazis that states, We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children. In white supremacist circles, 88 is code for Heil Hitler, as H is the eighth letter of the alphabet, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. In 2019, Berger reportedly disrupted an event at a public library in Philadelphia where former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe was speaking, screaming, Fuck you, you anti-white piece of shit! You will not replace us!

A Hayden poll worker, most known as a member of Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachins indoctrination task force last year, is facing a criminal misdemeanor charge for electioneering at the polls, court records show.

The Coeur dAlene Press first reported on Tuesday that Laura Van Voorhees was allegedly seen offering a card printed with information about critical race theory to a voter at a polling place on Nov. 2. The Kootenai County Sheriffs Office and Prosecutors Office conducted an investigation into the incident, Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney Barry McHugh confirmed to the Idaho Statesman.

Records show she pleaded not guilty to the electioneering charge on Jan. 31.

Idahos electioneering law makes it illegal to try to persuade or prevent someone from voting a certain way while at a polling place. It forbids circulating cards or handbills of any kind within 100 feet of a polling place. Those convicted face a fine between $25 to $1,000.

Last summer, McGeachin launched a task force to investigate claims of indoctrination in Idahos schools. The task force held four meetings, from May through August all of which were at least four hours long at which members heard primarily from people who supported their claims of indoctrination, the Idaho Statesman reported.

Van Voorhees was one of the task forces 14 members and a recent California transplant. During a task force meeting, she attributed critical race theory teachings at a California college to the reason she and her daughter have a poor relationship.

My own opinion, that Im sure that many people that Ive talked to share it, that we are in a Marxist takeover, a communist takeover, of this country, Van Voorhees said at one meeting.

Van Voorhees will be tried before a jury on May 2, according to court records.

At a court hearing on Tuesday, a coworker of Jennifer Crumbley said Crumbley was seeing someone outside her marriage throughout last year and would sneak away from work to be with her extramarital partner.

Jennifer and James Crumbley both face involuntary-manslaughter charges in connection with the Oxford High School shooting in November that left four students dead. The Crumbleys are accused of making a firearm too easily accessible to their son, who is accused to carrying out the attack, and ignoring warning signs that he was depressed.

Both parents face up to 60 years in prison and $30,000 in fines if convicted.

At a preliminary hearing on Tuesday for the couple's manslaughter trial, one of Jennifer Crumbley's coworkers testified that both parents were "seeing other people" throughout 2021.

Amanda Holland said in Michigan's 52nd District Court that Crumbley was in an extramarital relationship throughout 2021 but couldn't remember specifically when the affair took place. She said Crumbley would often sneak away from work to go see a person in the parking lot of a Costco.

Holland said in court that the Crumbleys separated at some point during 2021 but continued living in the same house. Holland testified that the Crumbleys resolved their marital issues around their anniversary but again could not remember the specific date.

A defense attorney for Jennifer Crumbley objected to prosecutors asking questions about the couple's extramarital affairs, saying those were irrelevant. The prosecution said the information was relevant because the Crumbleys had a "duty" to protect their community from their son and "what they exposed their son to" should be relevant.

Judge Julie Nicholson overruled the objection, though she said, "Whether or not there was some type of extramarital relationship between the parties and a duty to the community, I don't know that that is intertwined."

Holland testified that Crumbley returned to work on November 30 from her son's school and told her that the school was requiring her to put her son in counseling. According to Holland, Crumbley showed her a math worksheet that her son completed earlier in the day on which he wrote that his life felt useless and, "The thoughts won't stop. Help me."

Holland testified that she found the worksheet "disturbing."

Crumbley told Holland that she felt like a "failure as a parent" after her meeting with the school, but Holland said her tone seemed "sarcastic." Holland testified that she recommended that Crumbley go pick her son up from school to "spend some time with him."

Holland said Crumbley told her that she was planning to take her son to a horse barn after school where her family kept their horses. Kira Pennock, who works at the horse barn, previously testified that Crumbley was planning to bring her son by on November 30 for riding lessons.

On cross-examination, Holland told the defense attorneys that she didn't know much about the Crumbleys' son or that he was involved in extracurricular activities and was working on becoming a soccer referee.

Shannon Smith, a defense attorney for Jennifer Crumbley, also asked Holland whether she was aware that the school told Crumbley that her son was "not a threat to anyone" on November 30. Holland replied, "No."

How utterly vile. He ought to go to jail.
