No Way Home really did kinda suck. People were so enamored with the returning actors that they looked past the fact that the opportunity was completely wasted on a garbage story.

I like the movie, because it's very entertaining on a very basic, superficial level, but it makes no sense when you think about it and try to dissect it.

They had to have contrivances out the ass to get that story to do what they wanted it to.

I don't know much about Dylan Mulvaney, but I was under the impression that she was widely disliked, even by a lot of liberals, because her schtick is like an over-the-top, grotesque parody of what being a woman is.

I mean that the movies stops any pretense of being "about" anything, and becomes mindless spectacle that never stops to let anything breathe.

Maybe I'm just wrong for expecting Pixar-level writing, but I feel like that's my standard at this point. I've never seen any other Illumination movie, I have no interest in them, but if they're all like this, my disinterest feels correct.

I legit thought movies stopped doing it with Shrek 2, but in the span of 1 month we got Shazam 2, the Mario movie, even that Apple TV+ movie about getting the Tetris rights had the song play during a car chase I'm 99% sure didn't actually happen. Was there some recent resurgence in the song's popularity I missed?

It was a thing even before Shrek 2. They also did it in Short Circuit 2, Who's Harry Crumb, and the game Saint's Row 3.

I think it's time to officially declare that playing "Holding Out For A Hero" during your action scene is a hack move.

Shazam 2 just did that shit too. It's so played out. Stop doing it.
