I think the issue is that the majority of the stuff people are complaining about now have been issues with the series for years, yet they never complained before, so it's hard to not assume they still wouldn't be complaining if all the Pokemon were in the game.

Yeah, but Detective Pikachu had enough nostalgia throwbacks that I think people kinda overlooked the cringeworthy story and writing.

What makes Sonic cool and fun to kids is groanworthy to us, so it's tougher to bridge the gap, there.

No other series comes even close to having that many characters and I think they kind of spoiled us for too long by giving us all of them longer than they probably should have, so now people expected them to just keep having everything even as it gets over 1000.

To be fair, I'm not saying misspellings don't knock Lickitung down a little bit. I just question how much.

Like, Lickitung is 5% below Krabby, which means based on the number of plays, Lickitung would have had to be misspelled so completely that people never even stumbled into the correct spelling over 287,848 times.

The sample size being very large doesn't mitigate the factors that taint the data. People don't suddenly get better at spelling because you poll more of them.

You have yet to come up with a reason why Lickitung is hard to spell. Its exactly as it sounds and follows the typical naming conventions found in other names. There are only a few ways it could be spelled, so youre bound to get it right even if you dont know it. There are no extra letters or anything that dont necessarily always get pronounced like in Exeggcute. It is simply not hard enough to spell to explain it doing so poorly.

I think he's got a memorable design but he is one of the higher number Pokemon that isn't a legendary and is a one Poke line so he is going to have trouble. I think Chansey is that low for the same reason.

The egg brothers are harder but they're more memorable too. Like Lickitung isn't super memorable but throwing out the spelling issues he's probably up a good 10% higher imo.

Yeah but that follows conventional Pokmon nameisms. The reason the Exeggs are tough to remember the spelling of is because one has a c that isnt always apparent and its easy to forget which one it is. Lickitung is exactly as it sounds and there are only so many ways to type it. Theres no awkward extra letters there, so I dont buy it being tough to spell moving it very much. People just dont remember it because its a normal Pokmon that is rare to find in the game to begin with.
