That's the same as arguing that Lion King 2 is less of a Lion King movie than Kimba. There's tons of material in the Star Wars franchise that you can look at to see if things fit the setting or not. TLJ is clearly outside of the setting. TFA is not but it doesn't really do anything besides echo stuff that came before it, which is why it's a serviceable film but a disappointing star wars film. Like I said - despite being a lackluster filmmaker by himself, Lucas is still the creator and there's a notable difference without him. PT was worth it because, since Lucas was involved, it was still the same genre. The issue with the new films is that they don't actually know what Star Wars is, so they don't really mesh well. Rian Johnson's vision could have been executed well, but literally was impossible after TFA set different tracks. TFA didnt know how to be Star Wars so it banked on copying what had come before to account for the fact that it was trying not to be the PT, which meant it was trying not to be Star Wars. Prequel trilogy had bad writing and acting at points, but the movies were still Star Wars.
