It's a very fun movie, but you have to approach it with the understanding that it's very...silly. Campy is the word I'd use. There are some amazing serious scenes, but so much of the sense of humor is that tongue-in-cheek black comedy that most people either love or hate.

Maybe I am. But if it's got that kind of a sense of humor, it doesn't really feel like it's meant for me. That crazy 'irreverent' comedy style doesn't really do it for me. I love some things that have a profane sense of humor. Whiplash is a good example of a movie that has a lot of vulgarity and offensive subject matter, but I love it. I enjoy South Park, too.

But there's something about the meme-worthy 'lol so random' humor that just runs me off. If I'm supposed to laugh about butt plugs just because they're butt plugs, it's not for me lol

I got curious and I looked it up on IMDB. I checked the Parents Guide section.

There are a lot of references to butt plugs and hot dog fingers.

I think I'm good not seeing it.

I grew to like 3 the most over time. Second is my least favorite. It's not bad, but the minion subplot in that one was the weakest.

Plot twist is that she's looking at Toad.

It's not about taking it seriously. It's about engaging at all. They want you to call them out so they can keep arguing with you like they don't understand what you're trying to tell them.

Undertale is not even in my top 20-30 games of the 2010's if I'm being honest, but it did a lot right. Heck, I'll even listen to the soundtrack at times for fun, which I can't say I do for other games.

That's what I'm saying, though. A decent game that had its charms (I also own a version of the soundtrack, guitar covers by RichaadEB), but people blew its quality way out of proportion because it had meme popularity.

On its own merits, Undertale is pretty good. But it has that 'quirky indie game' vibe that most indie games try to have. It's good for what it is, but it's not anywhere near the best ever.

I swear, people give so many free points to indie projects and 'self-aware' works. Breaking the fourth wall is cool and all, but it's not exactly groundbreaking.

It was definitely a meme. Decent game, not nearly as amazing as it was said to be. Won the Best Game Ever poll and then got beaten out by Octopath Traveler in the best game of the decade poll a couple years later. In the first round.

This is a weird thing to care about.

I'm sincerely asking what people think about it. Meme popularity has been an interesting phenomenon over the years. Every so often, some indie project explodes onto the scene and gets called 'the best [genre] game/movie ever made' and then after a year or so it just kinda fades away.

This one has the makings of Undertale, from what I've noticed. Massive awards hype, praise that puts it above "all the mainstream projects with no soul," people say things like "THIS is what [other thing] should have been"

It will be interesting to chart its trajectory over the next couple of years.

The default game mode is a ranked ladder. Part of the strategy is actually knowing when to retreat. Your rank is determined by your "cubes," and each game allows you to "Snap" one time to double the number of cubes at stake on the next turn. Your opponent can also snap once at any time, as well, making the final result of the game worth 8 cubes by the last turn.

So a game can be worth anywhere from 1 to 8 cubes. If you retreat before the snap takes effect, you can give up just one or two cubes instead of risking 4 or 8. Each rank is 10 cubes, and every 10 ranks up to 100 gets you a reward during the season (sometimes credits, sometimes a card back, variant, etc.)

I don't think there is a major competitive scene. At least not yet. The game is still pretty young, and they just added a mode to duel friends last month.

I still use mine. I was playing Mario 64 the other day.

Great animation, great characters, great dub voice acting (from a time when dubs were pretty lackluster overall), great music, great mood...

Basically everything about it is great.

It has the simplicity of Hearthstone (simple card effects, easy rules, automatic mana gain per turn, etc.) but it even further streamlines the process.

Games are only 6 turns long, and each player takes their turn simultaneously. You play cards and your opponent plays cards at the exact same time. Turns resolve after both players have hit "end turn," and the order of what happens is affected by the order in which you played your cards, but also by "Priority" (which you can see before the turn by noticing a glowing border around one player or the other's name card)

Other than that, it's very simple and straightforward with small decks (12 cards) and several entertaining archetypes to mess around with.

I highly recommend it. Games are quick and fun, and the concept just works very well altogether.

Depends on how bad the ending is, but yes, it definitely can. In the same way, a great ending can redeem a series that lost its way a little bit.

For reference in HS it took me around 4 months from a brand new account to craft gagdetzan-era Pirate Warrior, but that was all f2p

With the collector token system you can target certain cards while unlocking random ones along the way. It's a pretty fair system, apart from how exceedingly rare the series 5 cards are.

True, but that's definitely an exception rather than a rule. Everybody thinks they're the clever one with the joke topic, but when everybody does it the whole board is a joke.

What's the worst mistake you can make as a user of CE?

Expecting something good to happen on CE.

First one as a kid, then the second one a few years ago as a 20-something.

Did not really like the second one, so I never watched it again.

I think the reasonable explanation is... they didn't know where the Saiyans might be at any given time. You could wish to blow up their ships and only have it serve as a minor inconvenience. They didn't know whether or not a Saiyan could survive in space, they didn't know if an explosion would kill them at all.

So over the course of the year spent training and waiting to revive Goku, I'm assuming someone thought of that idea but then thought it was too risky. That's my headcanon anyway.

This is what stopped me. I was a lazy kid. It was awesome to unlock all the cool jetpack outfits for all the characters, but actually tracking down the ship parts did me in.

They have a certain charm, but they wear out and become skippable after the third or fourth one. It's basically the same joke told in slightly different ways.
