I recall seeing My Life as a Zucchini in an art exhibition theater with my high school friend. I haven't watched it since, but I know I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Coco was always going to be a tough act to follow as far as original Pixar films, but I thought Onward was... solid. It won't stand out as one of their best, but it doesn't deserve to be lumped in with their worst either. At least the leading characters aren't as obnoxious as that of Inside Out or as utterly forgettable as the duo from The Good Dinosaur. It truly does stink that Disney seems unwilling to give an original Pixar story another shot on the big screen, and it's unfair that this is the scapegoat.

Gobi is the kind of character that SCREAMED "Ziggy is going to love this" as soon as he started interacting with everyone else. I do love how his song for the moon goddess makes them far less one-dimensional. I mean the fact that your first introduction to the goddess is Ultraluminary is... a bit worrisome, but I think the film pulled itself together by the end and became competent. Not much more I can say than that, unfortunately.

And yes I agree the little brother character was quite obnoxious. He made Gobi look better by comparison.

Though I must say he works a lot better in a supporting role than a leading one. The two episodes where he's the main character and Spike's story is the B plot are a couple of the most boring in the anime's entire catalog.

Finally, back to films I've seen! And it's the result of the sequelitis Disney got blighted with ugh... Well I must say I was disappointed by these two for different reasons, but I still enjoyed them for what they were. The Frozen 2 teaser trailer was infuriating in that it was more hype than the actual movie, promising a darker tone, more action, and less comic relief. To be fair it did deliver on two of those, but in its efforts to still appeal to children it comes across as tone-deaf.

What are kids supposed to find funny about Olaf having an existential crisis anyway? In fact the only time I recall laughing at all during Frozen 2 is when Olaf is summarizing the events of the first film to the forest dwellers ("their parents are DEAD" made me lose my shit hard). Also the whole elemental spirit thing seems incredibly contrived. At least half of them come across that way anyway; as adorable as Bruni is, and as cool as the Nocc is the both of them are clearly designed to sell merchandise.

I would have no problem with that if they had more relevance to the story, but they only exist as proxies to show off Elsa's new magical ability to calm all the other elements which also makes no sense at all. How is ice the 5th elemental spirit when the 5th spirit is the bridge that connects all the others? Fire and ice no mix! Yes the scene where Bruni relaxes in Elsa's hands is cute, but Coming Soon to a Disney Store Near You doesn't justify his entire existence and augh, enough of this!

Incredibles 2 was always going to be fighting an uphill battle for me since the first one remains my favorite Pixar film to date, and honestly it wasn't as big a letdown as Frozen's sequel because I knew from the jump not to expect it to be as good or better than the original. After all you can't top perfection, and I was just happy Pixar was willing to return to the same universe after so many years instead of giving us Cars 5 or Monster Retirement Home.

My issue was not with the original characters as they were faithful to the original or the plot as it was kind of refreshing they tried something new while still referencing the first film. I can totally buy Bob feeling insecure because Helen is the face of the superhero reinstatement movement, and I feel Violet's struggle to be noticed again after she worked so hard to come out of her shell the first time. What I don't buy is Helen (and everyone else by extension) getting ganked by the obviously sus Deavor character when she was proven to be so intelligent and competent in both movies prior to her capture.

I'm saying she should have seen that betrayal coming, and no not because her name is literally Evil Endeavor, but because the only thing they had in common was the incredibly shallow girl power angle and such. I'm all for feminist undertones in my family movies because it's been a long time coming but maybe having the subtlety of a brick to the noggin wasn't the move. Anyway the animation was incredible (pun intended), and I loved everything involving the Screen Slaver while she was still masked. However my biggest takeaway from the film was how much it made me miss Syndrome. Oh yeah... I forgot because my favorites Vi and Dash were so underutilized my favorite segments ended up involving Jack-Jack and/or Edna Mode. That's also a bit of a letdown.

I really hope Camerupt does well in this poll because it's an easy second, but please understand I simply had to vote Arcanine here

I would be shocked if Isle of Dogs wasn't Ziggy's #1. I haven't seen everything on this list so there's a very small chance something could have displaced it, but I know he has a high opinion of Chief, and Wes Anderson in general. Plus no way he'd put Pets 2 over

Pets 2 is a vast improvement over the first which unfortunately isn't saying a whole lot. Illumination as a whole is a textbook example of mediocrity in animation. Pretty much all the work they do is competent, but that's about all I can give it any credit for. They struck gold with the first Despicable Me then proceeded to milk it until it ran dry... but that property is the cash cow that always has at least one drop left. Can't wait for Minions 2: Rise of Gru coming to a theater near you in 2022 (but hopefully never really)!

Edit: Actually I do enjoy the Sing movies for what they are. Quite a bit, even.

Doesn't change my answer though. Zigzag was my favorite even before the user friendly known as Ermine turned me on to it. My first one was named Bandit and his Pickup ability was a life saver early game. My first shiny that I captured Gen 3 was also a Linoone (bittersweet as I had spent ages trying to get a shiny Zigzagoon, but beggars can't be choosers I guess)

Not only is Starly adorable on its own, it also evolves into the best birb. Easy choice, open and shut case closed, etc.

I'm also on Team Surface Pressure is best song, but you guys are correctly nailing the best two in the movie. That and WDTAB are the only two that live rent free in my head, but I like all the songs aside from The Family Madrigal (opening song). Lot of bops in this movie which is solid but just shy of exceptional. 8/10 loved it, but wasn't in love with it.
