Normally you'd be right. With HIMYM though...... whether you liked it or not, that last season's story arc up to the finale was made completely redundant by the finale itself. (and for some, the series itself.) 22 of the 24 episodes first take place over a single day, then the last two gloss over several years worth of events that cancel out what happened that 'day'. The last bit of the finale was filmed way back in season 2 of a 9 season show. They made no adjustments to it to account for everything that happened in between then and the ending; it was an ending that would have made more sense if the show had ended no later than S5, maybe sooner.

I say this as someone who did enjoy the ride. I just hadn't realized I had been going in the wrong direction the entire time until I stepped out of the limo.

I enjoyed the ride as well, even if the finale killed a good amount of the show for me. I even liked most of the final season. I thought it was a great idea for a basis of a season. But man the finale literally killed everythig

This happens to many shows, especially on sitcoms.

A very similar route happened to Scrubs, where half the cast left but they still tried making a show...I don't even consider that season to be part of the series to be honest.

Belichick purposely sat Malcolm Butler, the best healthy defensive player on the team. The defense sucked, but Brady threw for 3 TDs, 500 yards and no picks. Arguably his best Super Bowl performance. The defense lost the game.

Sure, the Eagles had the balls to play with the big boys, and went for it twice on fourth down. That's how you beat the Pats. But I don't see how any of that takes away from Brady's performance
