You know the drill, the big evil lord of bad stuff was killed or imprisoned centuries ago and now he's back!
Their motivation and dialogue usually comes down to stuff like, "Let the Age of Darkness begin!"



I suppose Darkness from Legend is probably the most complex character of this nature. He's tormented by his lust for the princess and her innocence even though he's bound to do evil. But even then, he's not really the "dark lord" per se as his unseen father (Satan?) occupies that role in the movie.

There's usually not one reason. It's like asking why a person chooses one game console over another.

• The "abortion stops a beating heart" argument is obvious. You're alive and have a soul from conception, so it's taking a life to perform an abortion. Whether you agree with that perspective or not (most in this topic won't), that's how many of them view it.
• If an individual is of the mindset that what promotes Christianity is good, what promotes or enables secularism or adherence of other faiths is bad might feel that the left is not Christian enough. Or, because factually some leftists are opposed to religion as a whole, or Christianity in particular, they may generalize and view the left collectively as the anti-religious or anti-Christian side.
• Then you have Israel.
• Then you have the religious authority / vote of confidence approach. The clergy, the church, are the people closest to God. They receive information more directly from God than what we do. So if they say this is the side which represents God's faithful, it must be so.
• And then you have personal interpretation and cherry-picking. Saying that you should give your neighbor a coat if you have two and they have none may sound socialistic, as might distributing the fish and loaves of bread to all, but it's not. It's not because I want to make money -- even if I'm told the love of money is the root of all evil. And the quote about the poor always being with us has historically been translated to ignoring the needs of the poor because it kept be helped; poverty will always exist.
• The basic control factor. Everyone wants to exert their influence and they feel this is the best side to align with in that regard.
• Finally, you have the vote of confidence. If you believe God is your friend, you can convince yourself you're justified in all you do. Leaders have literally justified murder under this premise and it's how bigotry is cultivated in spite of teachings to the contrary.
• Oh, and there are at least six or seven reasons I hadn't even thought of.

I know it sounds a lot like I'm vilifying Republicans, but that isn't my intent. If I gave a list of reasons why one demographic or another voted Democrat, it would likely sound dubious on paper. I just wanted to go into some of the specifics the best I could. It's hard to talk about politics without making it sound like someone has an "agenda." Chances are, they do.

I liked the graphics. I didn't care as much for the musical changes. Go Go Mario!! is so distorted that it honestly feels like a different theme. Bowser using his Super Mario Bros. 3 theme is pretty cool though. And I like the new animations at the end -- even if they looked like they were drawn in MS Paint.

I'd say the two improvements made are the addition of lanterns in the underground levels and the windows / thunder storms going on in Bowser's castle. Those add a lot to their respective environments.

On the whole, yeah, I'd probably sooner plug in the NES and play the original. But if I have the SNES hooked up and I don't feel like switching, I have no real complaints.

That said, Black women who rock White women hair are super-awesome and I don't want light-skinned Black women losing their jobs to "progress."

Colorism is a whole new can of worms. If a light-skinned Black actor gets a choice role, people claim that Hollywood is setting up a dynamic where light-skinned characters are doctors and protagonists while dark-skinned characters are pimps, crooks, and druggies. And if you make it so that only dark-skinned actors can get roles, then you're actively discriminating against Black actors with lighter skin tones.

It's a difficult thing to try and juggle and it's mostly a blind spot for White directors and casting agents.

I want to go.

The Universal Monsters house from last year - which featured Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Wolf Man, the Phantom of the Opera, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame -- was fantastic. Presumably, Bride of Frankenstein is limited to the Bride herself and the Monster. But that still sounds like a fun house based off of arguably the best of the classic Universal Studios monster movies.

But I've heard that you have to register for a time and that said registry fills up within about 10 minutes of opening. There's no ride or attraction which is worth camping out in front of the theme park at 5:00 AM.

The thing about Lost Levels is not that it's hard, it's that it's not fun. It's punishing without being rewarding.

It's a total chore. The only reason anyone would play Lost Levels to completion is because it's a Mario game and you feel obligated to beat it. It's the equivalent of helping a friend move into a new apartment. NES games like Ghosts 'n Goblins or Ninja Gaiden are difficult, but they're also fun. You feel good about yourself when you advance or when you finally beat the game. And you want to keep playing because it is enjoyable. That enjoyment is nowhere to be found in Lost Levels. You're just simply helping your friend carry their couch up a flight of stairs and they're dickishly angling it so that all of the weight is on your end.

It's not a very fun experience. :|
