It's good advice and I normally wouldn't--see my original target of 5 songs per day, failing to meet that on a regular basis, and still taking multiple days off--but... I've kinda got some real world stuff coming up in early April and will be needing to take a short break. Shouldn't be anything too long, I should be back to a more regular schedule no later than the 10th. BUT... I was going to take a break after finishing the first draft anyway, so if I could sync my times off that would be really convenient.

Also, it'd be one less thing to worry about and I like having emergency escape options available; in the unlikely event I need a far more extended break, then I can always just post the first drafts and say that a very abridged ranking happened. I'm not planning on that, I just tend to get overly anxious and paranoid about things, and having that option would alleviate a bit of stress.

I finally figured it out. I was thinking of King Arthur's wife Guinevere, I just didn't know how to spell her name or recall where I'd heard the name. The fact that there's a "Princess Gwynevere and the Jewel Riders" & a Princess Gwynevere in Dark Souls made it hard to realize I was just spelling her name wrong. ...Also that would be Queen Guinevere, so probably a wrong answer anyway. Though she might have been a princess when younger, I really don't know.

...Count that as whatever you want with whatever spelling you want, I suppose?

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, 26 songs is an incredible amount of progress. On the other, I spent significantly more time on this yesterday than usual and thought there would have been more progress... with only three days left until the target date and less time available for each of them, it's not looking as hopeful as I might have liked.

....Though I only have to manage 27 songs a day... if I can find a way to maintain the level of progress, then I can just barely pull it off. Not going to be easy though with less time.

I definitely agree with Space Ghost counting as both, same with Samurai Jack. Home Movies first episodes were on UPN, but later seasons were created for Adult Swim, so I'd also argue for its inclusion (though so far no one's argued for its exclusion, even though it premiered on another network. Shows how terribly its incredibly brief UPN run went, I suppose.)

My mind somehow went to the Venture Bros. saying "Go Team Rocket!" which I'm pretty sure is not a thing (I've only seen a handful of episodes), but I'd count that as Rocket because it took me quite a while to think of the word venture because I do not watch that show and have absolutely no idea how my mind broke in this oddly specific way.

Not that the songs aren't good, full length tracks on their own but they're so attached to each other & taking place so soon chronologically, that I've always felt they worked better as a 9+ minute epic tale of someone's rise to fame & power and inevitable corruption rather than two separate tracks. (Though this is again just a personal thing and I doubt anyone else agrees)

Couple of notes:

1, I shall be taking a few days off here. I've been typing quite a bit lately and it's going to be best if I rest my wrists for two or three days before I wind up doing something stupid and actually hurting myself.

2, I'm going to cheat and fill the last two slots with *mystery songs* that are important to me *for reasons*. Honestly, they represent two phases of my life and I need to take some time to reflect on my history for personal reasons, so I'm going to pretend these songs were nominated so that I can properly evaluate them. It'll be therapeutic for me or something.

...honestly, they'll probably just be in this weird spot where they're not really part of the ranking (the lowest song will be in 328th place since there's only 328 real nominations), but will be posted at the place where they would be eliminated had they actually been nominated. Which is stupid, but... well I'm doing it because it's something I feel I *need* to do for reasons which will probably be elaborated on when they come up. So, nominations are officially closed as of now.

Yeah, I was wondering how this song was still around. I don't think anyone on the board likes Was (Not Was) other than myself--two unsuccessful attempts at getting their biggest hits into Rank the Tracks kinda shows that people would prefer basically anything over them--nor have I gotten anyone not on this board to like them either... the best reaction I'd gotten to this point was no response. Also, while sad villain songs are my thing, they never seemed to be your thing.. so "band no one likes" singing "lyrics you won't like" was... not something I had high expectations for. I figured I'd be happy if it escaped the bottom five.

Anyway, it was my most listened to song in 2023... largely due to one day where I listened to it on an infinite loop. I love Was (Not Was) and sad villain songs, so this type of thing was right up my alley and I binged it. Hard. ...And then I kinda lost interest after a week or so. It's a good origin story, but it feels like it needs a continuation. "I turned to crime" isn't really a satisfying end, you know? It's the end of a first chapter, but I want more. Don't get me wrong, I like it quite a bit still, but it's more like a 7 or an 8 out of 10. Ironically, the song dropping so far down the list mirrors my own reaction to it, even though we took wildly different paths to get there.
