I had my first trip to NYC in December. Hotel on Times Square across from the Hamilton theater.

I was pretty unimpressed. It felt like a giant outdoor shopping mall. But I was surprised how it was exactly like what you see in the movies. I think if I hadnt seen it in the movies so much it would have been a different experience. But I feel a lot of travel will be kinda dull for me because I know what to expect. I need to find out another way to travel or somewhere else to go maybe, more adventure type locations.

Did you stay at the paramount?

Well, Hawaii for one, then I'd probably check out the Bay Area/San Fran (not just san fran though tons of awesome stuff there).

Malibu is nice and near LA , some decent places around there and Santa Cruz is pretty good, that mostly takes care of CA.

Nothing has knocked my socks off in Oregon or Washington personally, so i'd probably skip it.

I'd also agree to skipping Florida all together unless you wanna visit disney world or something. The beaches are ok but meh over all.

Consider traveling outside the US? Mexico was awesome but have not been in 30+ years. Europe would be insane, try Dublin at least. I'd head on over to Japan if I had the money as well, not to live, but to visit would be nice.

Normally I'd say give Australia a shot even though it's a LOOOONG trip, but yeah, not right now, also avoid Europe in the summer at this point.

Not a fan of Russia or Germany either personally but many people love visiting (my wife studied in Russia for a year in fact).

If you have not been to Nevada, you could try Vegas/Reno and maybe swing by Burning man, if you can get in, and if it's not just too comercial now (I went when it first started).

Buncha other options but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

I was thinking of Hawaii too but it just looks mad expensive. Ive done a lot of Europe and also been Mexico so trying to find other places. Australia and New Zealand I know Im gonna go to eventually but still have that US itch I still wanna scratch right now.

so Hawaii is def on the list, Oregon does look nice from what I see on tv. Any particular reason you aint a fan?

Still feels so surreal, somewhere Id only ever seen in movies for the past 20 something years. And then going there, and its exactly like you see in the movies with steam coming out of the ground and hot dog stands and news stands round every corner and shit.

Where else can I go in the US? People on PotD and a few friends have said to avoid Miami and LA. The latter would work if Im doing a more general road trip around west coast and have LA as a small part of it?
