Both.

The first scenario, I would probably run away, while feeling violated. The second scenario, it would totally depend.

How long did she wait to tell me?

What was the reason she chose not to tell me until now?

Were we already in love by the time she told me?

Too many aspects to consider, so it totally depends. Any way you look at it, it would be difficult to trust her again. If i did decide to stick around, It would take time to build that trust.

The body can malfunction as well. Plenty of people are born with things wrong about their body.

So the question remains: why side with the body over the brain?

Because in this case gender dysphoria is caused by the brain not the body.

not quite. it's caused because the two aren't aligned. so, aligning them is the goal. and that is much easier (and, imo more ethically) accomplished by altering the body.

In an ideal world, this would never have to happen anyway. People would be born as they should be. I've only met one transgender person, that I know of, but I'm sure she would rather not have to go through all the hormone therapy and possible surgery.

This sounds eerily like Jim Crow-era stuff. It's like these people aren't even aware they're repeating history.

Funny thing is, about half the employee roster is black. The town I live in has a high population of blacks, a decent size of Hispanics, and the rest are white/mixed.

I'm not sure who the ones were that feared for the safety. It could have been both black and white women. There is a pretty good amount of both.

I don't know what she's going through. Like, the process or anything like that. I just kinda feel bad for her. I've seen her leave in a hurry before the shift was over, and typically the workers aren't allowed to do that. Maybe someone said something to her that upset her. I'm not even sure what department she works in, to be honest.

On a typical work day, I'm a glorified secretary. No joke, I answer phones and transfer calls. Weekend shifts get to do the fun stuff, like going on rounds and securing the perimeter. When workers are here, we have to stay put at the front desk.

None. None that I'm aware of, anyway. Her presence is enough for some of the worker here. Just the fact that she exists.

Well, I don't actually work WITH her, per se. I'm actually a security guard, and she is an employee at the company that the outfit I work for secures. She's EXTREMELY fresh into her transition. For example, about a month ago her name was Matt, now it's Laura.

Anyway, the people here in the building don't want anything to do with her, to the point that she's been forced to use her own bathroom at the nurses station. The women here are "afraid" for their safety. Just to get an idea, and to possibly further your (possible) bigoted view of southerners, this work place is in Kentucky.

I've only interacted with her twice. Once, to let her into the building (she got locked out because she was running a few minutes behind, and the doors lock at a specific time), and the second time was when she needed something from the custodial closet (don't remember what she needed). She seemed nice and polite, though.

I get it, most of the people at this place are from the older generation, and this is a highly conservative area. I blame the attitude on ignorance, and the notion that people around here are just set in their ways. People can have a tendency to fear that which they do not understand.

"Are you accepting and supportive of transgender people?"

I accept that they exist, and I won't attempt to hinder their existence.

Do I support them? Not in the sense of rallying at trans marches, or anything like that.

Now, would I date a transwoman? Well, no, because I'm married.

If I wasn't married?

Maybe. She'd have to be fully transitioned, post op AND completely feminine in appearance/attitude. Basically, she'd have to be indistinguishable from a woman who was born a woman.

If that idea makes me transphobic, which it doesn't, then oh well.

I'm pro choice, but moderately so. I suppose champion was the incorrect word to use. I don't go around with signs, nor do I subscribe to pro choice marches.

I'm not gonna shut someone down who wants an abortion. If they do it in the first few weeks or so, I don't see a problem.

If they wait till all it's organs are fully formed, brain included, then I want no part in it. At that point, it's practically a person, so may as well have the damn thing. If she really doesn't want it, put it up for adoption.

People are gonna do whatever they do, though, so fuck it.

The pro abortion argument more or less boils down to "my body, my choice.". Despite the pseudo intellectual ravings, that's really the nitty gritty of it.

If it's in a woman's body, then she has the say, and that's that.

The "it's not a person" argument is irrelevant. You can lawyer your way around that debate, and corner someone who has that stance. Where as "My body, my choice" is a bit more difficult to challenge.

It's a circle argument.

I think the difference is that a fetus isn't sentient. Yes, it's alive, and yes it is sentient potential. However, it's not there yet.

You either agree with abortion, or you don't. I probably wouldn't do it myself, unless there was some sort of severe birth anomaly detected (see cyclopia), but I wouldn't stop someone else from doing it.

Abortion is NOT a viable option for birth control.

Its supposed to be a last ditch option for people. Teaching kids about proper contraceptives and sex ed often keeps abortion numbers low since kids and people know how to prevent pregnancies

I think it should be the first option.

Fuckin' incompetent statement. The first option LOL?!!!

Ideally, the first option would be to attempt proper protection. An abortion is a hassle, not as much hassle as having a kid, mind you, but it would be much more efficient to use a condom, and therefor lessen the probability of having to go to a clinic to get the abortion.

I don't oppose abortion, so don't get that dumb fuck idea. In nearly ALL cases, I fully support and champion abortion. THE ONLY time I oppose it, is if the mother waits till she's, like, 6 months pregnant, and then decides to abort. But that never happens, so not really even worth mentioning.
