What sickens me is that people want to use the bible as irrefutable proof that validates the religion, then they want to pick and choose which information they want to represent. Not to mention different versions of the document. I don't understand how a progressive atheist (which is the only person who would say something like this) could say that. There are people who follow the Bible exactly - Orthodox Jews, who follow the rules of the Torah and more. But other people (including Jesus) have morality that is different than the Bible/Old Testament or realize that it is impossible to live in modern society while following all the rules of the Bible. Example - no one (at least no government that isn't a theocracy) follows the "eye for an eye" law anymore. Almost everyone on earth would say that "eye for an eye" is immoral. People shouldn't be criticized for forming their own morality that isn't 100% consistent with the Bible.
