How badly do you want to see that top screen pop out at you?

I'd say good choice, but I'm a guy that has a New 3DS and never uses the 3D.

I have a New 3DS XL and almost never use the 3D. I only ever use it for a couple of minutes to try it out in a new game before turning it off.

The 3D in the 3DS is really cool tbh. Emulated games will never be the same experience as playing them on an actual 3DS for that reason.

Only time Ive ever missed the 3D function was playing Mario 3D Land in a bonus area. It feels intentionally difficult to play in 2D due to depth perception issues with the clouds (2DS wasnt a thing when the game was made).

Other than that it was a gimmick I got bored with after 5 minutes after I upgraded to a New 3DS

Personally, I like being able to clamshell my system. I don't have to worrry about the screen getting scratched in a silly way, despite using a case.

I went with the New 3DS XL myself and I enjoy the 3D in some games, most the time I'll turn it off though. It really depends on how good the game's 3D effects are.

If you just want access to the 3DS library, I think you made a sane move. I sometimes wish I just would have went with a New 3DS instead. The handheld does get pretty heavy and I have been meaning to buy a set of handles so my hands don't get so tired when I'm playing.

Of course, carrying around all that gear almost defeats the point of a handheld.

I still hate that game forces you to play in 3D.

Playing DS and 3DS games on your computer isn't nearly as good an experience as actually having the handheld. But I only had the OG 3ds for the longest time and at some point the screen became too small for me to bear.

The smaller sized n3DS is the coziest handheld ever created.
