that part can't be counted against him. many kids in germany his age were in the hitler youth. you pretty much were forced to join it. all kids after a certain age had to join. it wasn't like he loved hitler. he just happened to live in germany at an age and a time when it would have been illegal to not attend the hitler youth meetings. and he was a little kid. his parents probably dragged him to it
