I don't think anyone is arguing they make it easier for EVERYBODY to get them.

They make it easier for people who are willing to pay a premium (to be first to access something in high demand) do so. The alternative being a crapshoot for all.

It seems you both are thinking of people living at home with their parents or other relatives, or living with their romantic partner.

I'm referring to people not in that situation: people that either seek out a person to live with (unrelated, platonic housemate), or they live alone.

I am saying the former is rarer than the latter.

Nothing new here or on the internet in general. Some folk get really pissed if you dare to even ask simple questions that can be easily answered. I'd say Gaawa_chan covered the answers well here. Still I do understand that some deaths are put down as COVID when it's the underlining issues the person had before that killed them so nothing wrong with asking questions on a forum rather than following like sheep, belittling others and TRYING to sound intelligent.

Youre supposed to refrain from touching the mask as much as possible as well as taking it off if youre going to put it back on, as that could cause contamination.

Based on my observations of people in public, essentially no one is taking care to avoid contamination. I wish that weren't the case but just watch how people handle their masks.

If never removing it is what it takes for some people who are consciously doing so to avoid contamination, that's great. I don't do that, while I have been 1) putting on /taking off/adjusting my mask by only touching the ear loops, 2) always worn masks with the same side facing in/out, and 3) laundered cloth masks after each day of use since a day or two after lockdowns started.

No, I want people to act in a manner that reduces transmission while balancing our desire for a return to "normal" and healthier life. And part of knowing how to act to minimize transmission is having an understanding of why such interventions are being suggested. Taking interventions when not necessary could suggest that there is insufficient messaging regarding the underlying rationale for those interventions.

As an example, I still see people over 17 months into the pandemic walking outdoors with a mask on who will stop, take off their mask, sneeze into their hands, then put their mask back on (touching their face and the body of the mask in the process). This combination of behavior is incoherent.

Some people might refuse to go on walks outside because they're fearful of outdoor transmission, despite it being exceedingly rare if not entirely undocumented that someone catch covid from simply passing another on the sidewalk. And more walking is the number one activity people should be doing to improve their health.

Don't see how that's incompatible with this topic. Wearing masks in the described situations does not protect against covid transmission, except for maybe the car if you're doing ride share and about to pick someone up. Certainly not if you're just commuting to work or out doing errands by yourself in the car.

I could venture to guess that it stems from a misunderstanding of how transmission is occurring, but can't rule out laziness or forgetfulness.

Also, I don't really see the purpose of questioning it. Person might be more concerned for very valid personal reasons. Person might just be conveniently wearing it in the car getting from place to place. Who cares?

I don't think even wealthy people should live alone (in a unit by themselves) because it's extraordinarily inefficient. In this regard, average total cost of an apartment only applies to those who refuse the economical and environmentally sensible choice of living with others.

I'm not seeing it. Only would be correct if "that" is omitted or if "their" was supposed to be "there are"

Both times I've gotten the flu shot in 20+ years I've gotten the flu. Every other time I haven't.

Yes, it is anecdotal evidence, but it has been my life experience. If I start getting the flu, I'll start worrying about the shot.

Alternate perspective: you having the flu after getting the vaccine could mean that you owe your life to the vaccine.
