That's a fair correction for the relevant parts of his press conference that were miscommunicated. However, I still scoff at his position that a strong economy is the "greatest thing" that could affect race relations. That's the part that I quoted.

The strong economy comment is particularly tone deaf considering unemployment of black americans actually increased from april to may, despite overall unemployment going down.

There is a significant number of peaceful protesters.

There is surely a nonzero number of protesters who also engaged in looting, violence, or property damage.

There is absolutely a significant number of opportunists who are looting as a side-effect of the police being occupied, unrelated to the cause of the protest.

The existence of the latter two does not negate the existence of the former.

Im mainly conservative (mostly in the middle between the two actually) and Ive always believed if you are lucky to find love and someone to be with, then you should be with them no matter who you are.

Unfortunately this stance was commonly used to sidestep actually conceding that gay marriage should be recognized by the government; people convince themselves that being in favor of civil unions made them allies of LGBT, even if they directly opposed gay marriage. "They can be gay and live together if they want, just don't shove it in my face by forcing us to call it marriage."

Even if you yourself don't fit in that bin, just pointing out the distinction.

Nah. You're fine. Modern smart phones recognize when the battery is full and stop charging, then use the power cord as it's power source to keep it on while not draining or charging the battery.

Even ignoring the impact of trickle charging (which may or may not occur depending on your phone), keeping the phone stored near 100% for 8+ hours every day is a stress on the battery that causes capacity to noticeably degrade

Huh? Phone sitting unused over night will lose like 0 to 1%, it doesn't discharge.

I cycle my phone between 45 and 85% and charge it about 20 minutes in the middle of the day another 20 minutes in the evening.

I don't think the interpretation is that spending more <i>causes</i> increased happiness. The conclusion is that consumption is <i>more tightly correlated</i> with happiness than income is correlated with happiness.
